Carleton and St. Olaf Make Annual Northfield Donation
In a tradition that dates back nearly a century, Carleton and St. Olaf presented their annual donation—this year, $160,000—to the City of Northfield. Read on for the full story.

New Exhibit at the Perlman
The Perlman Teaching Museum is pleased to present an exhibition of sculptures produced over the last five years by New York–based artist Doreen Garner. Her artwork draws on a troubled American tradition of medically sanctioned experimentation on Black women’s bodies, a history linked to the unequal medical care African Americans receive to this day. The exhibit, which closes on April 17, is free and open to the public.

Lofgren Kudos
Congratulations to Moshe E. Lavi '11 and Karmini Sampath '09, this year's recipients of the Lofgren Alumni Business Fellowship! Established in 1984 by Charles Lofgren, Sr. '27, the award supports Carleton alumni with established commitments to a career in business through further educational opportunities. Lavi, who majored in history, and Karmini, who majored in English, will use their fellowships to pursue MBAs at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Carleton at the USA Ultimate National Championships
With the support of families, friends, and alumni, 118 Carls made the trip to Norco, CA last month to field four teams at the USA Ultimate National Championships. Check out the highlight video.

Virtual: Thursday, January 13 8 a.m. Central Breakfast Club with Michael Martin '09
Michael Martin '09 will discuss founding and building RapidSOS, a top emergency technology and healthcare start-up based in NYC. RapidSOS partners with thousands of 911 agencies and major technology companies like Apple to provide critical data to first responders in an emergency. Last year RapidSOS supported over 150 million 911 calls.

A Hmong-American writer, filmmaker, and teacher, Kalia is also a cofounder of Words Wanted, a company dedicated to helping immigrants with writing, translating, and business services. Her work, which has been recognized by several prestigious awards, is passionate and eloquent as she seeks to deepen the understanding of the human condition in order to garner more compassion in the world.

Thanks to Carleton faculty member and world-class performer Gao Hong, Chinese music has been a notable presence on campus for decades. Two prize-winning members of Carleton’s Chinese Music Ensemble join her for a conversation on the vibrant role of Chinese music in the community and their own lives.

"Algorithm Bound: Promethean Thoughts About the Fourth Industrial Revolution" is the next talk in Carleton's ongoing series of conversations on humanities and technology. Patricia Williams is the University Distinguished Professor of Law and Humanities at Northeastern University, with many publications in the areas of race, gender, and law.

Join us for our 22nd Annual Nationwide Trivia Contest, hosted once again by Noah Tarnow '97. Noah is a past Jeopardy! contestant, a karaoke superstar, and the creator and senior quizmaster of The Big Quiz Thing. Join a team with fellow Carls or create your own (2-5 participants).
