GW POLL FINDS BIPARTISAN CONCERN OVER THE SPREAD OF MISINFORMATION
A new GW Politics Poll shows bipartisan worry about misinformation’s effects on U.S. politics. Eight out of 10 Americans say made-up news and information will mislead “average Americans.” Both Democrats and Republicans worry that it will undermine social trust, affect election outcomes, lead to bad policy decisions, undermine confidence in media, and make compromise difficult.

The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers scholarships for American Muslim undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Journalism with the goal of increasing representation in media and politics in order to improve public opinion and public policy.

GW ALTERNATIVE BREAKS TRIP LEADER APPLICATIONS OPEN
GW Alternative Breaks is a program within the Honey Nashman Center that seeks to inspire active citizenship, a curiosity about the world, and to ask critical questions about unequal systems in our society, and how our values can drive us to change them.
We are currently accepting applications for 2020-2021 trip leaders. Leaders gain leadership experience, critical thinking skills and the opportunity to curate a service trip.

Rebekah Tromble spoke to Bloomberg TV in the segment “How Trump's Facebook Ads Strategy Differs From Dem Candidates." Tromble was also quoted in the Bloomberg Article “Google Pulls Down Political Ads as Candidates Keep Pushing Limits,” and the Columbia Journalism Review mentioned her research in the article “Twitter plans misinfo labels, but are they a good idea?’’

2020 WID DISTINGUISHED LECTURER: JONATHAN MEIBURG
Join 2020 WID Distinguished Lecturer: songwriter, musician, and ornithologist Jonathan Meiburg as he discusses his forthcoming book, The Feathered People (Knopf). In his first public appearance since 2018, Meiburg will read from the book and discuss the threads that bind together an unusual career in writing, science, and music.

The QTJA is a student organization of "journalists, media professionals, educators and students who work within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer issues." The interest form to join this org is now open.
