This edition of the Bear Bulletin includes some of the programs and events occurring this month and highlights some of the many on-campus resources available to support you.

October 11, 9:00 PM CT: Last day to change grade option to "P" or "A" (pass-fail or audit)
- November 1-3: Parent & Family Weekend
- November 13: Class of 2028 registration for the spring 2025 semester begins

November 15, 9:00 PM CT: Last day to withdraw or change grade option to Credit from P/A
- November 27 - December 1: Thanksgiving Break (No classes)
- December 6: Last day of classes
- December 9-18: Reading period and final exams

Parent & Family Weekend | November 1-3, 2024
|
Parent & Family Weekend is a time for you and your family to re-connect, show them more of WashU, and explore the St. Louis area.
If your family plans on joining us for , encourage them to view the schedule of events, register, purchase tickets & t-shirts, and plan their visit.
Is your family unable to come to Parent & Family Weekend? Join WashU faculty, staff, and fellow students at Bears Family Dinner on Friday, November 1 or Saturday, November 2! A $25 gift card and free transportation to the City Foundry will be provided.

Bearprints for Success Course
|
Bearprints for Success is now enrolling for our next seven-week session. This one-credit course helps new students successfully transition to WashU, both academically and personally.
Participants engage with academic readings, interactive activities, and empirically-based strategies centered on the five core themes of Healthy Excellence; Leadership; Career Development; Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion; and Campus Engagement & Belonging.
The course also introduces you to key academic success and learning resources that can support you at WashU. Email Lauren McCoy to learn more!

Flu shots are highly encouraged for all WashU students. Flu shot clinics at the Student Health Center will be held on November 7 and 8. COVID-19 booster shots will be available at the same appointment. Schedule an appointment online through the Student Portal.
|

|
If you have a bike on campus, we strongly recommend that you register your bike with WashU and display the registration shield on your bike in a visible manner.
It is also recommended that you use a Kryptonite U-lock to secure your bike, which is available for purchase at WUPD for $33. Email Sgt. Zohaib “Zack” Khan for more information on purchasing a bike lock.

At the Intro to Strengths workshops, you’ll learn more about your Top 5 Strengths and how to apply them to be successful at WashU. You can also see how your Strengths can help you set goals, work with others, and so much more! Dinner will be provided.

All performances take place in Edison Theatre. Kate Hamill's re-imagining of the Jane Austen classic is a brilliant comedic romp with an irreverent soul. Drop-in hours are available Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in our main office, Danforth University Center (DUC), Suite 110. Students can schedule an appointment with a career coach to discuss questions, get feedback, and plan for success.

| Therapy Assistance Online
|
Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) is a free service for WashU students. It includes over 150 brief and effective educational sessions that cover common topics and skills related to mental health, wellness, and substance abuse. The First-year Toolkit in TAO is specially designed to help incoming students transition and adjust to their new college environment.

The election is Tuesday, November 5! To vote in Missouri, you must register by Wednesday, October 9 and have acceptable photo ID. Registered St. Louis County voters can vote on campus on election day, and all students are welcome at Party at the Polls. We encourage you to check out more election information.
|

|
The Grove is home to a growing vibrant business and entertainment district in St. Louis City. In the Grove, you can find a diverse mix of independently owned restaurants, retail stores and entertainment services. It is also a thriving center for the LGBTQIA+, artists, and cycling communities in the St. Louis area. When you are in The Grove, be sure to explore the local shops for unique boutiques and antiques.

Upcoming St. Louis Events

October 5: Grovefest is an annual street festival that promotes The Grove neighborhood of St. Louis with fire performers, a bubble bus , a fashion show, and more. The main stage hosts electrifying entertainment, and between acts, you can fuel up at the Food Village or test your luck in the hot dog eating contest.
- October 10-30: Boo at the Zoo is Saint Louis Zoo's nighttime, non-scary Halloween experience. Check it out for festive decorations, entertainers, specialty food and drinks, and more.

October 18: Celebrating the Delmar Maker District, Delish on Delmar is the perfect blend of block party, food festival and makers market. Helmed by Maxine Clark, the festival welcomes both residents and visitors to the burgeoning entertainment district.

Throughout October: Grab your friends and visit the Eckert's Farm in Belleville, IL or Braeutigam Orchards to pick apples and pumpkins. They are both known for their apple cider donuts!
