Mark your calendar: National Research Administrator Day is September 25th!

Recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions of UCSB administrators in supporting research and innovation. They support our university's high standards of research administration and integrity, and help sustain us as a top-tier research institution.

Plan ahead and get creative in this year's remote environment. In addition to routine work, research administrators across our campus have reviewed mountains of federal, state, local and sponsor guidance since March in order to provide direction to campus and manage compliance during this pandemic. C&G administrators have supported nearly 40 COVID-related proposal submissions totalling over $8M, with over $3.5M awarded to date.

Send a note of thanks to your administrators or acknowledge them on social media with the tag #ResearchAdministratorDay.

Office of Research Foreign Influence Disclosure Webinar Recording

The Office of Research units of Research Integrity and Sponsored Projects Office offered the webinar "Foreign Influence Disclosure" on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

The webinar was recorded and is now available.

This webinar covers issues relating to foreign involvement and provide guidance on what federal agencies are currently requiring to be disclosed at the various stages of the proposal and award process. Failure to disclose foreign involvement may result in termination of funding, debarment, or---in more extreme cases---criminal liability, as the news media has reported. UCSB has a responsibility to ensure transparency and integrity in these matters, both as a state funded institution of higher learning and as a recipient of federal research funds.

Enforcement of NSF-approved Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support Formats Begins on 10/5/20

Effective October 5, 2020, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will begin enforcing the Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 20-1) requirement to use NSF-approved formats for the preparation of the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support proposal documents. The NSF-approved formats are SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae and an NSF fillable PDF.

The NSF Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support websites include links to the NSF-fillable PDF formats, updated FAQs, and instructions.
