Yi Bao (PI), CEOE Associate Professor, and Jianmin Qu (Co-PI), Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, received an USDOT award of $1M for their project “Enhancing Knowledge and Technology to Prevent and Mitigate Risks of Stress Corrosion Cracking for Pipeline Integrity Management,” with Rutgers University and North Dakota State University are collaborators of this Stevens-led project.

Chang-Hwan Choi, ME Professor, organized and served as a General Chair for the 3rd International Conference on Nature Inspired Surface Engineering (NISE-2024) held Nov 20-22 at the University of Granada in Spain. He is also currently serving as Guest Editor for Scientific Reports: Additive Manufacturing and Micromachines: Laser Additive Manufacturing of Metallic Materials.

Jennifer Kang-Mieler, BME Chair and Professor, was selected by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Foundation as one of its 2025 ARVO Foundation Honorees. This is the highest honor bestowed by the ARVO Foundation, the largest and most respected eye and vision research organization in the world.

AGU Michael H. Freilich Student Visualization Competition Winner |
Jorge Bravo, CEOE Ph.D. student, is the grand prize winner of the 2024 AGU Michael H. Freilich Student Visualization Competition for his work on satellite data visualization. The NASA-sponsored award includes a $6K grant and the opportunity to present his proposed data visualization with AGU and NASA at the 2024 AGU Fall Meeting.

Katelyn Chiurri, CCB undergraduate student, is a Stevens campus nominee for the Goldwater Scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering in America that only allows 4-6 students per institute to apply each year.

Simons Foundation Announces 2024 Class of Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Fellows |
Katelyn Chiurri and Mirian Rodriguez, CCB undergraduate students, are recipients of the Simons Foundation Shenoy Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (SURFiN). This program aims to spark and sustain interest in neuroscience among undergraduate students whose backgrounds and experiences are underrepresented in science. In addition to receiving financial support, fellows will engage with mentors through virtual and in-person professional development, and community-building activities.
