Our classroom is full of flowers, frogs, birds, and all things spring!
We planted our mammoth sunflowers with Ms. Casey, and that was a huge hit. You have some future gardeners, that's for sure!
At the art table, we painted egg cups like flowers, and they will be strung into a garland once they dry. We also started a collaborative piece with the Threes class: making a giant sunflower! We painted the center black and brown and sprinkled sunflower seeds on top. Next, each petal will be decorated. We also created birds out of cardboard, and next week we will make nests and add eggs!
During circle time, we sang the song 5 Green and Speckled Frogs and read the book Five Little Chicks.
We arranged flowers in our flower market and pretended to plant flowers in our sensory bin. In our water table, we had frogs and lily pads!
For science, we are seeing firsthand the life cycle of a butterfly. Our live caterpillars moved to the tops of their containers this week, beginning the transition into the chrysalis stage. Now we wait for butterflies to emerge!
On Tuesday, we celebrated Sophia's 3rd birthday! Happy birthday, Sophia!
Have a nice weekend!

This week, we kicked off our gardening theme!
The class had so much fun exploring all things plants, flowers, and growing! We even planted our own sunflower seeds and will be watching them grow over the next few weeks!
We really loved checking on our caterpillars each day and noticing how much bigger they've gotten! It was so exciting to end the week by seeing them form their chrysalises. We can't wait to watch the next stage of their transformation!
In art this week, we painted beautiful cherry blossoms using Q-tips, created our own flowers using stems, leaves, and petals, and worked on a very special collaborative sunflower project that we are excited to show off at our Mother's Day Tea!
We also introduced the letter/sound J! We sang J songs, practiced recognizing the letter, learning its sound, and tracing it.
We are looking forward to meeting with everyone at parent-teacher conferences on Monday and sharing information about your child's growth and progress.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you have a wonderful weekend!

5… 4… 3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF!
🚀 Our first week exploring space was such a blast! We kicked things off by dancing to Rocketship Run by The Laurie Berkner Band and reading How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers. The children had so much to say about the night sky, and it was fun hearing all their different ideas about what's actually up there.
In our small groups, we reviewed patterns and worked with our number of the week, thirteen. We had fun reviewing uppercase C and D and their sounds, while continuing to work on our lowercase letter formation.
🌎 We also celebrated Earth Day! We talked about ways to take care of our planet and made Earth collages by tearing blue and green paper. Tearing paper is always a hit, and it's a great way for the children to build the hand strength they need for writing.
A big highlight of the week was making our name rockets. This project really challenged them to slow down. The children had to count out the exact number of squares to match the letters in their name, write each letter, and then plan how to glue them so the entire name would actually fit on the paper. It was great to see them using their spatial planning and fine motor skills to bring their rockets to life.
We are looking forward to another week of playing and learning together!
Have a great weekend!

| This week in Kinder Prep, our focus turned to flowers and gardening. The classroom was filled with engaging invitations and hands-on activities to spark curiosity and creativity.
Through process art, the children created colorful flowers inspired by The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. They also explored creativity using oil pastels to draw sunflowers, followed by cutting and gluing paper pieces to create beautiful flower collages.
In honor of Earth Day on Wednesday, students participated in a meaningful discussion and activity about garbage versus recycling, helping them better understand how to care for our world.
During a number sense activity, the children counted the letters in their first and last names and explored the question: Which has more letters—your first name or your last name? They especially enjoyed comparing their names with those of their classmates.
I look forward to meeting with each of you on Monday to share the many goals and milestones your children have reached this year.
Have a wonderful weekend!
