Review the New Student Guidebook
As a reminder, the New Student Guidebook is a resource for first-time Miami students that provides information about advising, course registration, and first-year courses.
The Guidebook includes details about the Global Miami Plan, the core curriculum for all Miami students, as well as suggested fall and spring courses for each major.
While you will receive an abridged hard copy of the New Student Guidebook at orientation, you may also want to review the electronic copy of the Guidebook ahead of time.
You may also choose to review the Orientation Academic Advising Insights webinar ahead of attending orientation. The Orientation Advising Insights webinar includes helpful tips to consider ahead of your academic advising appointment at orientation.
Virtual Miami ID
Prepare for Orientation: Download MobileID
MobileID is the app that you will need to access your on-campus residence hall room from your phone at orientation. Follow the instructions on the MobileID website to get started. Not having this app downloaded before checking in for orientation will delay your orientation check-in process. MobileID will also serve as a useful tool when you are on-campus in the fall.
Upload a photo for your Miami Student ID Card
All new students will receive their Miami Student ID Card at orientation. ID distribution for students who have uploaded an ID photo is on Day 2 at the orientation closing session; you MUST attend the orientation closing session (bring a photo ID for proof of identity) to receive your Miami Student ID. Parents/family members cannot pick up students’ IDs, and students who cannot attend the orientation closing session will receive their ID Card upon arrival to campus in August.  If you do not upload a photo for your Miami Student ID, you can have your photo taken at the HOME Office after your orientation closing session.

Please upload your ID photo at least five days before your orientation session on the myCard online portal. If you are unable to upload a photo before this time, please do so as soon as you're able; if your photo is submitted and approved by the end of your orientation Day 1, we will do our best to make sure you receive your Miami Student ID with other students at the orientation closing session. If you have questions or need help uploading your photo, contact the Campus Services Center by calling 513-529-5000.
Download the Miami University Events App
Download the "Miami University Events" app from your iPhone or Android app store and access the "Orientation and Transition 2019" guide within the app for travel and arrival information, orientation schedules, maps, resource fair information, speaker bios, and more! You can also visit our app webpage and input your phone number to receive a text with a link to download the app.
