TOP 3

1. 6:30pm, Wednesday, September 16, in the Sanctuary
Deermeadows is having its first business meeting since the pandemic began. While several of the elements are common to all of these meetings, one is not: we’ll be voting about calling Rew Randolph as our Interim Worship Pastor (an interim is someone who serves before a permanent person is called).
Rew has three and a half decades of experience serving on church staff, several degrees including a Doctor of Worship Studies, but most of all, he loves Jesus and he loves Deermeadows.
2. Worship Pastor Search Committee
As you continue to pray over recommendations for people to serve on this important task force (Click HERE to recommend someone), I want you to know all the top candidates will not automatically be on the committee.
Why? Because the Personnel Committee has wisely concluded it’s best for a variety of perspectives to be represented – choir and orchestra persons, older and younger persons, as well as a balance of gender and ethnicity.
(For more detail on how the Search Committee members will be chosen, look below in the "Serve" section!)
3. Sunday Morning Groups on Campus?
Some of you are eager to launch back to in-person Sunday morning groups on campus.
I am glad you’re ready to be face-to-face with one another again. I thank God for the meaningful connections His Spirit has given your groups. My desire is for our groups to be strengthened and multiplied.
Please bear with us. Please exercise the fruit of the Spirit for a healthy perspective, and in your enthusiasm, choose patience and kindness. We’re currently wading back in to Wednesday nights... Let’s see how that goes. We’re also watching what’s happening in the brick and mortar schools... Let’s see how that goes. This is not a lack of faith on our part. It is loving our neighbor.
Thank you for cooperating with a Christlike spirit!
Your Friend,
Larry

"Runaway" by Jim Putman
In the Runaway Series, Senior Pastor Jim Putman shares his life journey of going from being a prodigal child himself, to becoming the parent of a prodigal child. It is a powerful story of restoration, Biblical truths, and practical advice. Jim walks you through what he and his wife experienced when their oldest son left home to live a life filled with drugs and bad decisions that ultimately led him to life on the streets.
With personal wisdom that comes from experience, Jim speaks of the strength and power families can access from the Holy Spirit and through God’s people. He tells you how to welcome your prodigal back home when they return, and how to help them integrate back into the family and the church. This series will inspire, motivate and equip you to create a home that is hard to leave, but easy to come back to.

SERVE

Do you know someone that you believe would be a great addition to the Worship Pastor Search Committee? We welcome your recommendations!
A Personnel subcommittee will be receiving recommendations through September 20th. The subcommittee will then review all recommendations and select seven members and three alternates to serve on the search committee. They will then contact those individuals to assess their willingness/ability to serve. The goal is to have the committee in place by mid-October. Not sure what it takes to be a Search Committee member? CLICK HERE to see the characteristics a committee member should have and to recommend someone!

Deermeadows is partnering with the Florida Baptist Convention to host a massive food distribution. Next Friday, Sept 18, a refrigerated semi will arrive with over 1300 boxes of meat, dairy and produce for local churches to pick up and give to those in their communities. Deermeadows will add a couple hundred of these boxes to our drive-thru distribution event on Saturday, Sept 19. These food boxes are provided by the federal government to the Convention because of the church’s unique distribution systems to get help to the needy. May God continue to use His Church to show love to our neighbors.
