Announcing a New Four-Year Open Access Deal with Elsevier |
Washington University Libraries and Bernard Becker Medical Library have announced a new and transformative open access agreement with Elsevier, spanning from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027, that provides access to additional journal content, makes it free to read and share, and offers WashU authors open access publishing at no cost.

Changes to MOBIUS Service |
|
|
|
The MOBIUS online library catalog, a resource sharing network of libraries around the Midwest region, remains suspended. Faculty, students, and staff will continue to utilize the Interlibrary Loan service during this period.
WashU Libraries are monitoring the platform and will not restore MOBIUS resource sharing until Libraries staff are confident that it will meet patrons’ needs and expectations.

What’s the Difference between Public Access and Open Access |
Being aware of the distinction between public access and open access will be more important for authors over the next several years, particularly if those authors are publishing work that is tied to federally-funded projects.

Digital Transformation Coffee Hours |
Join us at Olin Library throughout the fall semester for a series of coffee hours most Thursdays from 9-10 am. These events are a collaboration between WashU Libraries and the Digital Intelligence and Innovation Accelerator.
This week's coffee hour will feature special guest Jonathan Hanahan, associate professor in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, who is leading the new Master of Design for Human-Computer Interaction and Emerging Technology (MDes) in collaboration with the McKelvey School of Engineering.

In celebration of Banned Books Week, Carmen Maria Machado will read from her acclaimed memoir, In the Dream House. Following her reading, she will discuss book bans and the banning of her own books with WashU Professor of English Melanie Micir. Come early for food and drinks—the reception will begin at 5 pm.
