Oasis February Update: Satisfying Africa's thirst for God's Word
Dear Oasis Friend,
You are making a difference! In Zimbabwe, a bi-vocational pastor named Welson sustains his open-air church as a micro-entrepreneur. He wants each new believer to have a Bible for discipleship. However, those who attend his church cannot afford Bibles. Your partnership places a book or Bible in every Christian reader's hand by coming alongside Pastor Welson and others like him.

Making a Lasting Impact in Nigeria through Campus Ministries

"This Bible comes at the right time," Lawal says. As one of 250 campus missionaries in Northern Nigeria, he is now using this biblical resource that is changing lives in his country, especially in this area virtually unreached by the Gospel. In Northern Nigeria's universities and colleges, God is at work, and Lawal is courageously at the forefront.

Despite the constant threats in a heavily Muslim area, Lawal and his fellow missionaries live by faith each day. They are determined to reach and disciple unsaved students, equipping them to be bold for Jesus. Nigeria's colleges are a strategic mission field, and NIFES (Intervarsity) is impacting the very heart of the nation through one-on-one evangelism, discipleship training, leadership development, and Bible studies. Lawal knows that with Bibles and other discipleship tools, he can make a lasting impact on Nigeria's future.

Missions within Africa Comes of Age

Oasis's latest book, I’d Rather Die on the High Ground, shares Nigerian missionary Namani J. Nharrel's experiences with the Kamuku people.
The book highlights an authentic portrayal of how African brothers and sisters are fulfilling the Great Commission in their own nations to the unreached. It changes the narrative in Africa and tells the story of indigenous missions that is being written right now.
Discipleship is Shaping Northern Uganda
LMIY (#letmeintroduceyou) is an evangelism and discipleship ministry in Northern Uganda that partners with the West Nile Bible Training Center. Each of its 876 trained pastors now has an Africa Study Bible.
Additionally, LMIY conducts an 8-session teaching program in public schools and provides New Living Translation (NLT) Africa Edition Bibles to the children. According to Greg Helms, #letmeintroduceyou missionary, "Many have come to faith through this outreach, and many of these Bibles are the first in households and even extended families! Can you imagine the impact on these students and their families?"

Dalphine Gloa, a secondary student in Liberia, shared, "The Bible helped me to grow in the faith by teaching me a valuable lesson that without God, I am nothing. It's teachings challenged me to depend on Him alone."

The Gospel in Action: Responding to the Refugee Crisis

In the war-torn town of Renk, South Sudan, the Anglican Archbishop Joseph Garang Atem, an Africa Study Bible contributor, faces a daunting challenge as 300,000 refugees have descended on his community. The ongoing war in Sudan has displaced over seven million people.
Despite the church's limited capacity, Atem emphasizes the need for an immediate humanitarian response. He also sees an opportunity to live out the Gospel and witness to the refugees. Oasis International is raising funds in support of his efforts.

In Memoriam

We are saddened by the loss of Anita Rego, wife of Peter Anil Rego and mother to their children, who recently lost her battle with cancer. “I’ve known Anita for fifteen years, and there was never a time that she did not open her home and table for me,” remembers Jeremy Johnson, Oasis’s EVP/COO. “I will deeply miss our fellowship together around her family table. Anita was a true servant, dedicated to her faith and family. She will be missed by many.”

The Rego family runs Brilliant Printers in India, which has printed all our books and Bibles over the last several years. Brilliant makes it possible for Oasis to deliver high-quality literature at affordable prices. Our prayers go out to the family during this challenging time.
