Now for some serious voting information. Early voting is continuing. Be sure to join the SU Votes "Make a Plan" contest by completing this form. A voting plan will ensure you know where to go and what you need for Election Day next Tuesday, November 8.
A special shout-out to Associate Professor of Economics and Business Debika Sihi and eight of her senior business students (Zac Black ’23, Todd Dearborn ’23, Preston Hannah ’23, Brynne Hardway ’23, Bryan Meissner ’22, Mason Murphy ’22, Paige Rasmussen ’22, and Kelsi Schneider ’23) who participated in the Brand Innovators Marketing Innovation Summit on "Winning the Digital Race." They were the only students invited to the conference and heard from speakers representing brands, including The Clorox Company, AT&T, Dallas Mavericks, National Football League (NFL), Samsung, and many more!
Also, a well-deserved recognition to all FYS/AES students. Their creative approach to their academic work, from poetry performances to poster sessions to quilt squares was on full display at First Symposium last week. Each seminar class brought a unique presentation for attendees to enjoy!
Calling all Southwestern models! A photographer will be on campus for a photoshoot November 8–10. Photos and videos are needed to promote Southwestern. If you’re interested in giving your best “blue steel,” sign up here. Food and t-shirts will be provided.
Now that we are halfway through the semester, I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the food provided by our partner Aramark. We continue to look for new ways to serve the community, so we want your feedback on The Provisions on Demand (P.O.D.) Express mini-market. Let us know what you like or dislike about the P.O.D., what is missing, what you want stocked, and ways we can enhance your experience. Please use this survey link to submit your feedback.
We are a very active campus this week. Today, you can visit our Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar in Bishops Lounge, where tamale samples will be available this afternoon, along with a sugar skull workshop and a mariachi performance later tonight. On Thursday, join Steve Friedman, author of the Gold Winner novel “The Corporate Introvert,” to learn more about introversion and extroversion and how to lead and thrive with confidence.
Last but by no means least, homecoming is this weekend. Say hello to the hundreds of alumni returning to Southwestern to relive their college days. Here is a list of all the events happening on campus. I look forward to seeing you at the football game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Go Pirates!
