Six Miami students named Gilman Scholars

The six Gilman recipients and 2 alternates

Six Miami University students have been awarded Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to help fund their study abroad experiences this spring and summer. The combined total awarded to these students is $28,500.

Two other Miami students were named as alternates for Summer 2021.

Recipients of the Gilman Scholarship represent 307 colleges and universities across the United States who will study or intern in 87 countries through the end of 2021. Fewer than 1000 scholarships were awarded nationwide.

Guinigundo and Raval Awarded Internationalization Grant

Director of Global Partnerships Karla Guinigundo and Dr. Vaishali Raval (Psychology) were recently awarded a $99,525 grant through the US Mission India Public Diplomacy Grants Program. Their project, "Using Best Practices to Promote Internationalization of Higher Education in India in Collaboration with US Partnerships," aims to develop a model for internationalization of higher education in India.

Introducing MiamiConnects: Faculty Development Institute

Facilitated by Miami University’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), the remotely delivered
MiamiConnects Faculty Development Institute immerses university faculty in intensive modules that focus on core learning principles such as engagement and assessment. Each MiamiConnects Faculty Development Institute consists of 3 or more remotely delivered workshop modules (with topical customization available) and an optional consulting package. Faculty work closely with CTE staff in ways that maximize instructional improvement to advance student learning in their courses.
