GVSU mourns the January 27 death of Joan Boand, retired faculty member and longtime Laker coach. Boand, professor emeritus of physical education, arrived at Grand Valley in 1966 to teach swim classes. Blazing a trail for women in sports at Grand Valley, Boand was soon coaching volleyball, basketball, and track and field.

Saturday, February 12 is the fourth-annual faux-back event where the Grand Valley men's and women's basketball teams will become Sawyers for a day. Fans can enjoy an exclusive beer garden and Smoke N Ash's food truck prior to the doubleheader against the Michigan Tech Huskies.

As Loyal Lakers, alumni give at a monthly level of $10 a month ($120 a year) to a program, fund, scholarship/endowment, or cause that is important to them.
