GVSU Night at the Griffins

Join fellow Laker alumni at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids to watch the Griffins take on the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday, November 22. Enjoy a fun evening alongside your GVSU friends with lower level tickets and a GVSU/Griffins branded glass! Afterwards, step foot on the ice for a post-game photo. Included in the price is a donation to the GVSU Scholarship Fund.

Alumni in 10 Interview: Dana Calloway '07

Dana Calloway, '07, earned her degree in English Language Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education from GVSU. With this degree, she has gone on to work for Kalamazoo Public Schools as a K-5 District Literacy Coach. She says that Grand Valley played a pivotal role in equipping her with the knowledge to be a successful educator. She believes it's important to feel that connection with the university by remaining involved after graduation.

Engineering Students Help Build Costumes for Children at Mary Free Bed Hospital

Grand Valley State University engineering students were part of a large volunteer effort to provide custom-made Halloween costumes for several dozen children who are current or former patients at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

Weeks of preparation culminated October 26 with the fourth annual "Halloween Heroes" parade at the hospital, where community groups, students, patients and their families all showed off the costumes that were specifically designed to work with wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

President Mantella Introduces Strategy for the Future of GVSU

Grand Valley State University President Philomena V. Mantella identified an engagement strategy designed to set the course for the future of Grand Valley.

Mantella reported hundreds of people took part in "Grand Huddles" held across campus since September to share their ideas for the future. She said more than 1,200 comments were received from an online survey and another 1,000 comments came from notes and text comments. The Huddles are currently scheduled through the beginning of next year.

For the tenth year in a row, Grand Valley State University has been named one of the country's most environmentally responsible colleges by The Princeton Review. The university is included in the 2019 edition of "The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges."

No. 2 Lakers Cap Regular Season With 7-0 Win at Davenport

The No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers capped off the regular season with a 7-0 win over the Davenport Panthers Friday night to clinch an outright regular season GLIAC championship. The shutout win marks the first time in the 25 year history of GLIAC women’s soccer that a team has gone the entire conference regular season without allowing a goal.

GVSU Sweeps GLIAC Championships for 18th and 19th Consecutive Seasons

The Grand Valley State men's and women's cross country teams placed first in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships for the 18th and 19th consecutive times in program history. The men handled the competition with 44 points while the women tallied just 17 points to easily secure first place.

Club Sport Highlight: Add Division Title to List of Accomplishments for Women's Rugby

It's no secret that the GVSU Women's Rugby Club has been playing at a high level all season. They head into their final game of the regular season with a record of six wins and zero losses. The Lakers have shown absolute dominance this season with their offense push, as they have outscored their opponents 253 - 54, which also says something about their defensive lines.
