It's where I grew up, began my career, and, along with my wife, raised our children,” said Louis Lopez. Louis Lopez is returning home to San Antonio to lead the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, and he currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Austin. He brings 23 years of YMCA experience here in San Antonio, serving as the YMCA of Greater San Antonio’s Senior Vice President of Operations until September 2018.

During his time with the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, he was instrumental in developing some of the Y’s signature programs, including the Y Healthy Living Program and Síclovía. Louis has co-authored several healthy living abstracts in partnership with the UT Health Science Center. He has presented for the Center for Disease Control on Open Streets for his early work partnering with the City of San Antonio. In 2012, Louis was awarded the “CPPW (Communities Putting Prevention to Work) Local Hero” Award for his partnership with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District in implementing programs such as Ride to Own, Fitness in the Park, and Síclovía. In 2015, Louis was awarded the “Western Sector Person of the Year” for his community work with the Westside of San Antonio by the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

Louis grew up in San Antonio and is a first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University. Mr. Lopez will be the YMCA of Greater San Antonio’s first Latino to serve in this role. Louis, with his wife Sandra, has three children, Amber, Autumn, and Lou.
