FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM |
During the 2023 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 240 created the First-time Homebuyers Assistance Program for allocation by Utah Housing Corporation, a finance agency created in 1975 by Utah legislation to serve a public purpose to help provide affordable housing for low and moderate income people. This bill provides down payment assistance of up to $20,000 to assist approximately 2,400 first-time homebuyers to purchase a newly constructed but not yet inhabited home.

UTAH'S PLAN TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS |

The Office of Homeless Services is excited to implement this new state homelessness strategic plan with the Utah Homelessness Council and the Utah Homelessness Network.
The plan identifies best practices and areas for improvement, ensuring all services are provided in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. It outlines gaps and recommends solutions for ensuring homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring for Utahns.

Governor Spencer J. Cox and Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson unveiled their full budget recommendations and priorities for Fiscal Year 2025 in December 2023. On top of generational investments into a comprehensive statewide homelessness support system, the budget includes a $150 million investment towards an ambitious goal of creating 35,000 new starter homes by 2028.

A group of business leaders have formed the Utah Impact Partnership, dedicated to solving Utah homelessness, with its initiative to bring hope and humanity to Utah’s homeless issues.
Project Human Dignity — a campaign featuring stark, black-and-white portraits of people experiencing homelessness, and videos, challenges Utahns to think of Utah’s homeless as grandfathers, sisters, veterans who served with honor, loving couples, neighbors, and survivors of trauma.

|
Through deposit and emergency rental assistance, landlord-tenant mediation, and homelessness services Utah Community Action's Case Management & Housing program helps clients to obtain and maintain safe, stable and affordable housing.

It focuses on building relationships with state partners and community ambassadors to elevate the needs and concerns of historically underserved and underrepresented Utahns.
