Spring Plant Giveaway this weekend!

Start your very own Scattered Garden with free plant starts such as tomatoes, squash, broccoli, peppers, kale and more! Plants available for pick up at Neighborhood House - 7780 SW Capital Hwy in Multnomah Village.

Neighborhood House is lucky to have a garden plot right on Multnomah Village’s high street, nestled between the administrative offices and Free Food Market. Each year, with the help of our volunteers, the garden grows about 1,500 pounds of fresh, nutritious fruit and veg. All the produce harvested goes straight to the Market for distribution to neighbors in need of healthful food.

As fortunate as we are to have this garden, we only have the space to grow so much. The Scattered Garden program widens our reach by allowing for many people to grow and contribute fresh produce from their own respective gardens.

If you don’t yet have a garden growing, our Spring Plant Giveaway has lots of veggie starts for free! Tomatoes in many varieties, eggplant, several types of squash, tomatillos, broccoli, kale, peppers and much more.

As plants ripen, pick and use what you need for yourself and your family, then donate the rest. As many of us know only too well, even a small garden can grow an abundant supply - often so much more than we can use.

Bring your bounty to the Free Food Market and hand it to any of our friendly and helpful volunteers. They will weigh it and help you fill out a donation slip. Please be sure to write “Scattered Garden” on the slip!
