Partnership Gwinnett Ports Tour
On November 9 and 10, CID executive director Emory Morsberger, Dr. Bourdeaux and Mike Reams visited the Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah, Georgia as part of Partnership Gwinnett’s Georgia Ports Tour. This insightful event shares a behind-the-scenes look at the influence of the ports in global commerce, international industries and the local community.
In 2021, the Georgia Ports Authority contributed to 560,000 full- and part-time jobs, $140 billion in sales, $59 billion in state gross domestic product, $33 billion in personal income, $7.4 billion in federal taxes, $2 billion in state taxes, and $1.8 billion in local taxes. These numbers have only increased since the pandemic, and the impact of the industry and its operations continues to be even more crucial to everyday business and our district.

Thank You for Attending the Fall 2023 Owners’ Meeting!
On Tuesday, October 24, Gateway85 CID hosted the Fall 2023 Owners’ Meeting at Happy Valley Restaurant in the district. This event was an incredible opportunity for the property owners within the 14-square-mile CID to gain detailed insight into district projects like EV charging stations, new sidewalks and landscaping, security and mobility as well as a commercial real estate market update.

On November 14, over 150 regional leaders and CID professionals joined together to honor Natalie Tyler-Martin, Board Chair of Airport West CID, and Jim Durrett, Executive Director of the Buckhead CID, with 2023 CID Awards and celebration of the work of the CIDs throughout the state of Georgia for the 14th Annual Signature Council Event.
The Council for Quality Growth has presented the CID Leadership Awards to thoughtfully chosen CID leaders who impact the growth of metro Atlanta and Georgia. As the 2022 recipient of the CID Professional Excellence Award, Emory Morsberger presented Durrett with this honor. Read more about the 2023 CID Awards here.

Metro Atlanta kicked off the 2023 Diwali holiday season at Global Mall this November 5 and 6! Diwali, the festival of lights, gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that are lit to symbolize the victory of inner light over spiritual darkness.
“This year’s celebration was greater than ever as we continue to expand on the amazing diversity in our community,” said Shiv Aggarwal, board chairman for the Gateway85 Community Improvement District. “A community with 131 nations represented, numerous languages and a population where 25% of this community was born outside of the United States. What a time to celebrate our diversity.”
Diwali officially began on November 12 and ends November 17.

nesevo, a global leader in networking solutions, IT services and logistics, recently announced plans to expand its footprint in Gwinnett by leasing a 13,000-square-foot facility in Norcross for manufacturing and office operations. The company plans to create 30 new jobs over the next five years and is working with Partnership Gwinnett on the expansion.

This November 9, The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program officially opened its doors to sponsors and donations for the 2023 holiday season! Gateway85 CID member Prologis is hosting Angel Tree this year at 2029 Tucker Industrial Road, Tucker, GA 30084.
This year, The Salvation Army is serving 727 families and counting, and angel sponsors are still desperately needed. Of the 1,800 children registered this year, 600 do not yet have a sponsor. Gateway85 CID’s main artery, Jimmy Carter Boulevard, is emblematic of the former president’s legacy through its vibrancy, multinationalism, economic importance and bright future. With McBath Support, MARTA to Receive $1.75 Million Regional Infrastructure Accelerator Program Grant
Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-07) announced that the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will receive a $1.75 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Regional Infrastructure Accelerator Program (RIAP). This funding was requested by McBath in a letter of support to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in May of this year. According to McBath, “This funding will ultimately enhance access to affordable housing and good-paying jobs while propelling economic mobility for my constituents.”

Representatives McBath, Mrvan, Manning Introduce Bipartisan Workforce Development Bill with Senators Reed, Young
Lucy McBath (GA-7), Rep. Frank Mrvan (IN-1), Rep. Kathy Manning (NC-6), Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), and Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) introduced H.R.5987, the Adult Education Workforce Opportunity and Reskilling for Knowledge and Success (WORKS) Act. At current funding levels, adult education programs serve about 1.1 million people, while there are 43 million adults who stand to benefit from literacy programs and 62.7 million in need of numeracy programs. This bipartisan bill would support American workers and expand economic opportunity and mobility for millions by investing in adult education.

Phil Sadd Town Hall Gateway85 CID board member and City of Peachtree Corners councilmember Phil Sadd hosted a Town Hall Meeting on November 2 to discuss the new Marshal Program and Crime Prevention, the Forum and Town Center initiatives, key transportation improvement projects, Curiosity Lab Innovation initiatives and candidates for the City Council open seat.
“Meeting with constituents and residents to provide them with information regarding the city is vitally important for transparent communication,” said Sadd— and we couldn’t agree more!
