Dear Student,
Thank you for verifying you diploma name earlier this month. We previously notified you of the March 15 deadline to verify your diploma name in SIS. In the event you still need to change your name, you should do this as soon as possible in SIS. However, we may not be able to guarantee the change will be reflected on your diploma, in which case a reprint fee may be assessed.
It’s now time to let us know where you plan to align for the all-University celebration and which department ceremony(s) you plan to attend.
These choices are made through the My Commencement page in SIS. It will open for responses on Monday, April 3, 2023 and needs to be completed no later than Thursday, April 27, 2023. Additional details regarding the process are available online.
To access the My Commencement page in SIS, log into SIS and select "My Graduation Status."
You will be asked to provide the following:
- Alignment Area - TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS! - To ensure that you can sit with your friends at the all-University celebration on May 21, 2023 you need to tell us where you want to assemble before entering the academic quad. Your friends will need to select the same location. There is a finite number of spaces per area so make sure you plan ahead.
- Number of Guests: To provide a comfortable day for all, please estimate the number of family and guests who will attend the ceremonies. Tickets are not required for guests to attend commencement.
- Commencement Venue - Students graduating with more than one major will need to tell us which ceremony they wish to attend. If you have more than one major, you may indicate you plan to attend both ceremonies but only if they are not at the same time. Students who do not provide us with this information will be assigned to the event related to their primary major. Please note that students who are receiving a degree in the School of Engineering will commence at the ceremony on the Green (academic quad) at 11:30 a.m.
Make sure to you are ready and eligible to participate in Commencement 2023 events by completing the applicable items below.
- Complete your Senior Survey: All graduating students are required to complete a senior survey. Students will receive an email from the Office of Institutional Research towards the end of April with instructions and a unique link to access and complete the survey.
- Complete loan exit interview, if applicable: If you have borrowed a student loan to attend Tufts you will be required to complete a loan exit interview that explains your rights and responsibilities as a loan borrower. Additional communications will be sent to your Tufts email beginning early in April.
- Financially cleared: All graduating students must have paid any outstanding balance due to the university before degree conferral. Please review your student account in SIS and settle any outstanding balance owed to Tufts. Should you have a credit balance available, you may submit a refund request so that we can process your refund before the end of the semester.
To be eligible to pick up our Marching Card on Friday, May 19 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Dowling Hall Lobby, you must have a completed senior survey, completed exit counseling, and have a $0.00 balance in your student account.
The status of these checklist items is updated regularly beginning at the end of April and up to Commencement to reflect your status as it relates to these requirements. You can check these messages as needed in SIS on your My Commencement Page.
Thank you for your timely response and we look forward to Commencement 2023!
Sincerely,
