Tufts Student Life
Your 2022 1098T Form is available online
January 24, 2023
Dear Student,
This message is notification that you have a 1098-T form available to pick up electronically. We are required to use your legally given first name for this communication. Federal 1098-T forms are used to determine your eligibility for claiming the Education Tax Credits on your Federal Income Tax returns.
Receipt of a 1098-T does not automatically establish eligibility for educational tax credit. Tufts University has contracted with Maximus, Inc., (formerly Vangent) a General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) company, to provide both the electronic and paper 1098-Ts.
You may retrieve your 1098-T electronically now. And you should also receive a form in the mail soon. Be aware that you can download additional copies online in the future as well. For more information regarding the contents of your form and other FAQs, please visit our website.
To retrieve your 1098-T electronically:
FIRST TIME USERS:
  • Go to http://tra.maximus.com (note: Internet Explorer 9 users may need to use "Compatibility View").
  • Click the "First Time Students" button.
  • Enter your full first and last names and the last 5 digits of your Social Security Number.
  • Click Submit. You will be instructed to create an account.
  • Follow the instructions on the website to create a free account and retrieve your 1098-T. If you have difficulty creating an account, use the "Help" link in the left menu.
RETURNING USERS:
Tufts University cannot provide tax advice. The IRS Home Page is an excellent source for tax information, forms, and advice. The Lifetime Learning Credit and American Opportunity Credit IRS web pages contain important information on frequently asked questions for each tax credit. More resources about the various credits are available at the GDIT TRA Services Resource Page.
