New Worship Schedule

Begins August 5th

DS Schedule as of August 5, 2018
After months of assessment and deliberation the Board of Elders, in collaboration with the staff, are introducing a new, simplified Sunday morning schedule that will begin August 5. Their priorities centered around relationship building and family options.

This arrangement:
-Allows for more passing time for conversation and fellowship
-Places worship times a little earlier in the day
  -Simplifies communication and planning
8am - Traditional Worship
9:15am - Modern Worship (Sanctuary & Gym) + Christian Education
10:45am - Modern Worship
More details to follow in the coming weeks.
Effective August 5, 2018  |   Saturday worship remains at 5pm

Director of Youth Ministry Call

Kendra McNatt has declined our call to serve in Omaha at Divine Shepherd. She will instead be accepting a call to her birth state of California. In a letter last Sunday she wrote:
"To the congregation of Divine Shepherd Lutheran: Thank you for your overwhelming kindness and considerations as we worked to communicate and learn from each other across a wide time difference. It has been a joy to hear about (and even get to “see”) the ways God is using you in your community. Your heart to reach the lost and the creative ways you choose to do that should inspire all of us to look around and ask what we can do too. I can see God using you to spread His love and Gospel to the far corners of the world.
I will be keeping our brothers and sisters of Divine Shepherd in my prayers as well as encouraging others to do so too. Divine Shepherd: It will be my prayer that you continue to further God’s Kingdom and that you remain encouraged in your efforts to shape your youth ministry."
Please keep the Call Committee in your prayers as they continue their work.
In the meantime, any questions regarding Youth Programs can be addressed to Tia Kosiski, Interim Youth Director or Sean Chapman, Pastor and Director of Community Life.

Capital Campaign Update

After a thorough review of project needs, solutions and congregational input, including 17 focus group meetings, a favorable feasibility study was delivered to the Divine Shepherd Board of Directors.  This comprehensive report written by consultant Dan Reese states:
“The case has broad representative support within the congregation… There is a good spirit among the people and they are ready to move forward.”
On June 19th the board unanimously voted to immediately begin the “Seeds of Hope” Capital Campaign and form a steering committee.
Look forward to hearing more about this exciting mission in the coming weeks as campaign leaders begin to plan a kick-off event in September.

Message Series: Questions God Asks
We are all too familiar with the questions we have for God: Why is there so much suffering in the world?  Why don’t you make my loved one well?  Why don’t you stop evil things from happening?  But have you ever thought of the questions God asks, like, “Where are you?” or “Why do you call me good?” or “Do you think I came to bring peace?”  Why would God ask questions?  What questions did Jesus ask?  What do His questions reveal?
Join us this for worship this summer and bring your friends for, “Questions God Asks."
