Academic Credit For Biology Research

Enrollment in BISP 99 or BISP 199
Biological Sciences offers courses in which students can earn academic credit for conducting research. An application and research plan are required for each quarter of participation. Deadline to find a research lab and apply for Winter 2018 is Friday, December 8th by 4:00PM. Details and web-based application links can be found on Research for Academic Credit.

Sea Turtle Research Internships in Mexico

May be eligible for academic credit 
Sponsored by the Science Exchange and administered by SDSU, this unique experience allows students to work with Latin American scientists in their efforts to save sea turtles from extinction. Students may also be eligible to publish and present at conferences. This is a two-month commitment during summer 2018.
Applications will be open until filled. Apply at the Science Exchange.

UC Scholars Program

Apply by February 1, 2018
Summer research program supported by UC San Diego, Student Affairs. Program provides with skills to become research scholars. All majors are welcome to apply. International students attending UC are eligible to apply. Program dates are June 25-August 17, 2018.
Letter of recommendation required. Reach out to faculty early.

Gabriel Wienhausen Scholarship for Biology Majors

$2,000 Award
The Gabriele Wienhausen Biological Sciences Scholarship is a highly competitive annual award presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic and community engagement while enrolled at UC San Diego. The scholarship promotes engagement in community service, leadership, and research by supporting students' participation in experiential learning opportunities on and off campus. - APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 5TH.
Recipient will receive a one-year $2,000 award. 

EUREKA! Research Scholarship Exclusively for Biology Majors

Apply by February 1, 2018
Eureka! Scholars is a highly competitive summer research training program for some of our most promising undergraduates. Under the guidance of a mentor, scholars conduct leading-edge research which greatly expands and integrates their academic learning and jump starts their role as young scientists in the discovery of new knowledge - DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1ST.
Accepted students will receive a stipend of $5,000.

Undergraduate Research Scholarships (URS)

$5,000 Scholarship to conduct research in the summer!
The application cycle for 2018 scholarships is now open. Students will need to find a faculty mentor and apply before February 1, 2018.
Applications require a letter of support and a research summary. Begin your search early. You can start by selecting a research area and finding faculty that conduct research in that area. If you have question about the eligible research or the application process, please contact Sophia Tsai, the Research Scholarship Coordinator at the Academic Enrichment Program.

Air Force Research Lab Internship

10-Week Program: June 4 - August 10 $12,000 Stipend
U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) is currently accepting applications for its 2018 AFRL Repperger Research Internship Program. Each year the laboratory will appointment a couple exceptional undergraduate students into the program. Check out the opportunity catalog to review all of the available opportunities. Please apply to no more than (3) Repperger opportunities and only apply to opportunities in your applicable educational background.
To qualify, applicants must be pursuing their Master or PhD (some outstanding bachelor students will be considered as well), have a minimal 3.2 GPA in a STEM discipline and be a U.S. citizen. Selected participants will receive a $12,000 stipend for their participation in the internship which runs from June 4- August 10, 2018.

Stanford University invites applications for the post of a Neuroscience Clinical Trials Research Assistant/Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a cutting edge research environment with world renown researchers in a variety of disciplines including Multiple Sclerosis, Headache, Memory Disorders, Epilepsy, Neurosurgery, and others.
The successful candidate may participate in all aspects of clinical trials research including: assembling and administering neuropsychological assessments, screening and recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, scheduling participants for testing, tracking progress of the study and behavioral data, verifying data and entering pertinent information into database for statistical analysis. A minimum commitment of two years is required. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits. There are 3 positions open with start dates Winter 2018 and Spring 2018.
