Happy New Year, and welcome back to campus! We hope you had a restful break and a strong start to the new semester.
We have already had many of you reach out about language and culture events at the LCLC’s Language Oasis (308 Grant Hall), so keep your eyes out for fun events like conversation hours, karaoke, games, dance, music, movies, and more! The LCLC is looking forward to working with a large and vibrant group of new and continuing peer tutors and language learning assistants (LLAs) in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish! They are undergrads taking 200+ courses in those languages (including many majors and minors) who offer help to current 101-104 language class students by visiting classrooms as well as offering free drop-in peer tutoring in Grant Hall. We are proud and thankful as ever for our tutors/LLAs and for the wonderful mentor instructors who support them, and we are thrilled as ever to work with you and them this Spring!
Coming up soon: the 2026 Winter Involvement Fair will be on January 29 from 11AM to 3PM at the SCE Illinois Room Complex, so please volunteer to show up and tell students about the languages you teach, the programs you lead, and the opportunities you offer!
