COVID-19 Resources for UCSB Researchers

NCFDD Covid-19 Resources

The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community for faculty members, postdocs, and graduate students, dedicated to supporting academics in making successful transitions throughout their careers.

The NCFDD has assembled recorded webinars, resources and practical advice relavant to COVID-19, that focus on:

physical and mental health and wellness
best practices to stay calm and maintain a sense of routine
creating a strategic plan

NSF Advisory Board Nominations Open

NSF is requesting nominations for membership on its scientific and technical federal advisory committees for its directorates and offices. Members of these committees provide fundamental expertise to inform and develop new and existing agency policies and research activities. The announcement in the Federal Register states that the agency will be making a concerted effort to increase the diversity of its committees’ compositions when filling vacancies.

Write on Site (WOS)

UCSB faculty, staff, postdocs and researchers are invited to join UCSB's Write on Site community virtually for focused, positive writing spaces. Writing includes things like brainstorming ideas, working on articles or proposals, incorporating reviewer comments, working on tables, grants and more (but not service/teaching stuff like committee reports or grading). You can "stay" the whole time or just "come by" and commit to 30 minutes of focused writing.

Wednesday: 9-11am, hosted by Inés Casillas & Melissa Morgan
