The next Leaders Association meeting will be Tuesday, March 12. PLEASE make every effort to come to these meetings. It is how we make connections and learn from each other to bring the best programs we can to the young people in our clubs. It connects your local club program to the wider recognition program and opportunities in 4-H.

is now open!

Fair sign up is open! Sign into FairEntry.com with your 4-H Online credentials and register for your fair exhibits. Reference the Fair Book found on the Eau Claire County Fair website to find what entries are available in each department. Do you have questions? Note: Fair Departments are related to the 4-H Projects you signed up for, but do not completely match. The State 4-H program sets the 4-H Project list. DATCP and the Fairs set the Fair Departments. FairEntry talks to 4-H Online, but not completely. The only thing that transfers is your name and age of the participant.

Explore Chicago with the Older Youth Council!

All 4-Hers in grades 6 and 7 (right now) are invited to join the Older Youth Council this July on a trip to Explore Chicago! We will take the train from Tomah to Chicago. Cost of the trip will be $500, but scholarships will be available.

Highlights of the trip include The Willis Tower (formerly called the Sears Tower) Skydeck, Millennium Park, Chicago Institute of Art, Chicago River History and Architecture Tour, Night Bus Tour, and Navy Pier.

Participants will leave Tomah at 12:16 PM on July 10 and will return at 3:17 PM on July 12.

National 4-H Congress

November 28-December 3, 2024
Atlanta, GA

For youth currently enrolled in Grades 9-12 (grades 10-13 for the 2024-25 4-H year)

If you are an Eau Claire County youth interested in attending National 4-H Congress, please consider completing a record book and the nomination form in order to receive scholarship funds from the Leaders Association to participate. The award process is open to any Eau Claire County 4-H youth.

Registration is open from June 1-30, 2024 through 4-H Online.

National 4-H Congress is a five-day Educational Experience held in Atlanta, GA. Congress is the premiere nation-wide event for 4-Hers to network with others from around the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. While at Congress, 4-Hers engage in leadership, citizenship, global awareness, and inclusion. Highlights include educational workshops, exploring the city, international events, community service, educational tours, and the National Congress Gala. Poultry Fitting & Showing Clinic

Wednesday, June 26, 6:00-7:30 PM

A poultry fitting and showing clinic will take place on June 26 between 6 PM- 7:30 PM at the Lincoln Town Hall in Fall Creek.

During this time Pullorum Testing will also be offered for all species, excluding Turkeys. See the fair book for turkeys or call Brian @ 715-533-8728. Cost for testing is $1 per bird.

Poultry is Department 7 in the Fair Book and starts on p. 73.

James E. Volbrecht Scholarship Application
is Open!

This scholarship is in memorial to James Volbrecht who was a longtime supporter of 4-H and the Eau Claire County Fair. Jim graduated from CVTC with an Ag Mechanics degree in 1984 and he was named Outstanding Young Farmer in 1992. Tragically, Jim died in a farming accident in 2019. This scholarship is given in gratitude for his years of support of young people in Eau Claire County and will honor his memory. This $300 scholarship(s) will be awarded to an active Eau Claire County 4-H or regional FFA member involved in the Eau Claire County Fair (preference will be given to youth involved in the dairy project) who plans to pursue post-secondary education. To apply, complete application by clicking the button below.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 26 and will be awarded at the County Fair Awards Ceremony on Sunday, July 28.

4-H Summer Academy in Madison

4-H Summer Academy will be held June 24-27 at the UW-Madison Campus. It is open to youth in grades 8-11 with leadership opportunities available for 11th grade. Registration opens March 1.
