Online Schedule and Community Gatherings

Our modified schedule allows for shorter class periods. In addition to their classes, students are expected to login for Announcements, Chapel, J-Block, Advisory, and Afternoon Programs according to the schedule. Students regularly receive instructions for all of these virtual gatherings. A copy of the online schedule, tips for success while we are online, and useful contact information are all available here.

Absent? Ill? Let us know.

If your child is no longer on campus, please be sure to let us know if they will be absent from a school obligation or if they receive a positive COVID-19 test or diagnosis. It is important to us that we continue to monitor the health and well-being of our community

Speaking of Well-Being

SAS faculty and staff remain commited to your child's well-being even when we are not in-person. In addition to your child's advisor and teachers, we have assmbled a list of useful contacts on the Online Learning Resources page.

Preparing for Break and Exams

Our Thanksgiving Break (no classes) will be Wednesday, November 25-Sunday, November 29. We then resume online classes for the week of November 30. No homework will be due on Monday, November 30.
Exams take place the week of December 7-11. The exam week schedule begins with a Reading Day on Monday, December 7. During this time teachers are available for extra help and may host review sessions via Zoom. These sessions are scheduled according to discipline. Exams take place Tuesday-Friday for students in grades 7-12. Thursday is the last exam for sixth grade students. During the exam periods, students will be logged into Zoom, and cameras will be required to be turned on. Exams will take a variety of forms, as usual, and will be designed for the online space.

Exam Schedule, December 7-11

Need Books for Next Semester?

Students beginning a new course second semester may need additional books. MBS, our online bookstore, will open on November 23 for book purchases. This will only apply to students in grades 10-12.

Enjoy Creative Expression

Our students enjoyed a virtual Creative Expression Assembly, and you can, too. Enjoy this video assembled by theater teacher Chelsea Padro and featuring gifts from Mia Val '26, Mercedes Rodriguez '27, Ms. Randolph's English 10 Class, J.T. Jenkins '21, the Cross Country Team, Isabella Randolph '21, and Kenneth Simmons '22.

Congratulations!

Kyler Cantrell '23 and Cecil Rodgers '24 joined the Grundy County football team this year through a co-op arrangement. Although the team lost in the first round of the TSSAA playoffs, Cecil, at quarterback, was credited with preventing a shutout.

COVID-19 Updates

Our COVID-19 Protocols & FAQs are updated regularly.

We heard the University is opening it's own testing lab. Will that affect SAS's testing?

Yes! In December, SAS will move to a self-administered anterior nasal swab test through the new laboratory established at the University of the South.

When SAS is not in-person, where can day students get tested?

Here is a link to the Tennessee Health Departments that are offering testing. Testing is also available at many doctors' offices, urgent care clinics, and drug stores.
