Tips for Grads: Managing Projects and People
| |
| As the end of the spring semester draws to a close, you might be facing the crunch of due dates. With limited time, setting goals and employing systems to encourage productivity are critical to managing your end-of-the-semester project. If you have one or more seminar or research papers with looming deadlines, consider the following strategies to enhance your writing productivity, recommended by Nue Lee of GradHacker: - Write every day, no matter what. If you’re stuck, Amy Benson Brown, a writing coach, encourages her clients to try prewriting exercises to break through periods of stagnation.
- Write now, edit later. While you might not like the initial draft, it is much easier to edit text that you have than to edit the text you don’t have.
- Protect your writing time. Avoid scheduling meetings with advisors, colleagues, or friends during your dedicated writing hours.
