Thrive! Inspiring ND Women is an employee resource group focused on increasing opportunities for women to be recruited, retained, and advanced as leaders at the University of Notre Dame. Learn more.

Coming Soon: Committee Openings

Thrive! will soon be announcing openings for spots on each of the five committees. We invite all members to consider nominating themselves for one or more of these roles.

Leadership positions in Thrive! allow you to play a tangible role in enhancing the environment for women at Notre Dame while developing your own leadership skills in a low-risk, supportive environment. You will have the opportunity to build your network outside of your working group as well as gain exposure to speakers and campus leaders. Committees also offer a place to learn and demonstrate skills you may not have the opportunity to use in your current position.

Stay tuned for the upcoming call for self-nominations and detailed descriptions of what is involved in each position. Start thinking about whether you would like to get more involved in Thrive! If you know someone who would be great, encourage her to apply too!

The selection of the Thrive! Officers and Committees will be administered by the Thrive! Officers and Steering Committee Chair, with the University's diversity statement in mind.

Mentoring Update

Men and women from 30+ divisions joined the new MentorND platform as a part of the Thrive! Mentoring Pilot, totaling over 200 users. Top participation by division includes University Relations/Development, Mendoza College of Business, and Notre Dame International.

Participants have the option to enroll as a mentor, a mentee, or even take on both roles. Pairings were announced via email on Match Reveal Day earlier this week. A kickoff event was held on February 12 for participants to connect with other users and potentially meet their "match" in person for the first time.

What is your favorite book? What did you learn from reading it and/or how did it inspire you?
Makes Me Wanna Holler: A Young Black Man in America, the autobiographical/debut book by Nathan McCall, had a tremendous impact on me. His narrative changed the way I think about, view and perceive the culture of black men in America, black women, gentrification and the very issue of racial division in our country. The book greatly enriched and further developed an already acute sense of compassion toward others.

Thrive! Recommends

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
We teach girls that they can have ambition, but not too much ... to be successful, but not too successful, or they'll threaten men, says author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. In this classic talk that started a worldwide conversation about feminism, Adichie asks that we begin to dream about and plan for a different, fairer world -- of happier men and women who are truer to themselves.
Adichie will be speaking at Notre Dame on March 19, 2020. More details
