Curious to see the new main terminal that we’re building behind the scenes? We have two first looks to share with you: This spring, we invited filmmaker Dawn Jones Redstone to take a quick spin around the construction site. And we’ve taken advantage of new floor plans and images to show you what it’ll look like to roam around the main terminal in 2025.

Imagine it's 2025, and you get a VIP tour of the new main terminal. The last construction wall has come down. You arrive at the entrance, ready to wander around the terminal for the first time.

This spring, PDX released a new floor plan for the main terminal. We’ve combined this map with six architectural renderings to create a virtual tour. Follow our route, illustrated with future views, and picture yourself at PDX in 2025.

Have you ever looked at the construction walls behind PDX’s ticket counters and wished you could see what’s on the other side? Because none of us have X-ray vision (yet), we asked Portland filmmaker Dawn Jones Redstone to bring her camera to the construction site. Wood is personal: Q&A with Kevin and Karolyn Kaster

It can be easy, when writing about the new main terminal, to focus on its size and beauty. But the entire PDX Next project owes its existence to the land and the people of the Pacific Northwest, as our recent conversation with Kasters Kustom Cutting reminded us. Kevin and Karolyn Kaster, whose firm milled Doug fir for the terminal’s ceiling, value the personal connections they’ve forged with the owners of the sustainably managed forests who supplied PDX with wood.

Question: Thanks to the construction detours, I’m having to walk longer distances at PDX. Can you make this commute less challenging?

Answer: We know the construction detours we built to keep everyone safe have created new challenges for travelers — especially older folks and people with disabilities. Don’t hesitate to call 503-460-4300 to request mobility assistance, which is available for every visitor who requests it. In addition, you can find a full list of PDX’s accessibility resources on FlyPDX.com. They include mobile maps for people with visual impairments, a hidden-disabilities lanyard program, and assistance translating between English and a wide variety of languages (just call 503-460-4234 to be connected to the service).
