A first look at the 72 live trees that will create a calming, “walk in the forest” feeling at PDX.

When you’re sitting on good news that you want to share, you know how it gets harder every day to keep from blurting it out? 

We can finally blurt:

📣 The new PDX starts opening on August 14! 📣

More than 30,000 locals came together to create this space, and we’re working together to polish and inspect all the last details. But the new ticket counters are installed. The trees are settling into their beds. (Yep, real trees.) And the owners of a dozen local shops and restaurants are getting ready to open.

In the spirit of honesty, we’re not done done. This is phase one of the opening. You’ll encounter construction walls and detours until early 2026. 

But we’re excited to show you the new roof and the giant windows! And play some music for you while you sit on the stadium steps! And pour you a pint at the mezzanine bar (there are 96 beers on tap, all of them from Oregon)!

If you’re flying in or out of the airport soon after August 14, you win the right to text carpet selfies to everyone you know. If you’re not flying this summer, well, check your email inbox for more photos, videos, and stories.
