FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 18, 2018 (Los Angeles, CA) – Lucie Foundation headquarters relocates to ROW DTLA and opens House of Lucie Los Angeles gallery space on Thursday, September 20, 2018 with the inaugural "Lucie Masters" exhibition. Cat Jimenez, Executive Director, Lucie Foundation, commented, “ROW DTLA is a natural fit for House of Lucie Los Angeles and Lucie Foundation offices. We had the good fortune of presenting three successful pop-up exhibitions earlier this year during Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA), and that drove our decision to move in and be a part of this exciting, innovative community. ROW DTLA, self described as "a historic district, thoughtfully reimagined for creative space, retail & art," has ample onsite parking, and is Arts District adjacent, making it an ideal magnet for the creative population of Los Angeles."
In another announcement, Lauren Wendle, is named President, Lucie Foundation and Lori Reale, Director of Sales and Marketing, Lucie Foundation. Wendle, and Reale, formerly of the Photo+ Group, have formed L&L Consulting. They will spend their time working in both New York and Los Angeles. “So much good news for Lucie Foundation,” commented Hossein Farmani, founder, Lucie Foundation. He continues, “I am thrilled to have the expertise of Lauren Wendle and Lori Reale on team Lucie. They bring their vast business experience to our mission to cultivate and promote the appreciation of photography on a global scale. Also, I am pleased to be able to announce the opening of another House of Lucie, this time in Los Angeles at ROW DTLA, the perfect creative community for Lucie Foundation.”
The first exhibition at House of Lucie Los Angeles will be a group show of 28 images all by prior Lucie Honorees. These master works include photographs by Neil Leifer, Mary Ellen Mark, Steve McCurry, Victor Skrebneski and Tim Street-Porter, (see images below) as well as over 20 additional images. “It is fitting that our first exhibition will be grounded in our flagship program, The Lucie Awards,” Lauren Wendle commented. She continues, “A new location, a new gallery venue and a new adventure. I’ve always been an adjunct participant and supporter of all things Lucie, and now it’s official - I’m on the team. This is a fortuitous confluence of fulfilling my aspirations and adding value to a nonprofit arts movement that I’ve always admired and supported.”
Future exhibitions include an auction to raise money for organizations working on the front line of the immigration issue at the Mexico-Texas border, with top level LA based photographers already committing their participation. Future juried open call group shows are planned, showcasing both local and global, established and emerging artists, as well as book signings and workshops. Upcoming shows include the annual International Photography Awards Best of Show Exhibition, and The Prix de la Photographie, Paris (P×3) Exhibition.
