Jeremiah Pacheco
Jeremiah Pacheco Doubles Up on Exceptional Customer Service
On two occasions, Jeremiah Pacheco (he/him), airport operations specialist with the Port of Portland, saved the day – once for a passenger struggling with a flight, and another time during a traveler's medical emergency:
"Due to a delay, I missed my flight home and didn't know what to do – my phone wasn't working, and I was unable to get in touch with my family. I was tired and felt totally helpless. Thankfully, airport operations specialist Jeremiah Pacheco approached me and saved the day! He helped me contact my family and get in touch with my airline to re-book for the next day. I needed accommodation for the night, so he helped arrange a stay at a nearby hotel and a taxi to get there. He even brought me water and some snacks! Jeremiah is an unbelievably great person – kind and understanding and very respectful toward me. Thank you!"
"Jeremiah was involved in a medical incident in the ticket lobby when a person in the airport collapsed. A nurse was already performing CPR when Jeremiah passed by, and he jumped in to do chest compressions. They continued CPR and used the AED until the medical response team arrived. Thanks for stepping up to help in an emergency, staying calm and doing what it takes to ensure everyone’s safety."

You Asked, We Answered: When Will the New Main Terminal Open?
Q: Is the entire main terminal opening in May 2024?
A: Not quite! We’re opening the main terminal in two phases. Next May, we’ll start taking down the temporary walls inside the entrance to unveil the new check-in stations, the garden, new stores and restaurants, the mezzanine, and the security checkpoints—not to mention the new wood roof you’ve been seeing photos of. (News flash: The connector between Concourses B/C and Concourses D/E returns in May, too.) The very next day, we’ll start building new exit lanes, lounges, and restrooms, as well as a second group of concessions. By the end of 2025, the entire PDX Next program will be complete.

Hoffman Construction Offers Workers Mental Health Support
Did you know the construction industry has the second highest suicide rate? The thousands of women and men in our region who are building PDX’s new main terminal have incredibly dangerous and stressful jobs in a culture that’s historically not very comfortable talking about mental health. Hoffman Construction – our main PDX Next construction partner along with Skanska – is working to change that with their GUTS (Get Us There Safe) program, which creates a safe space for mental health support, including home-life trauma. KPTV took a look inside the GUTS trailer at PDX, which features comfy couches, arcade games and QR codes that connect workers to counselors.

Our partners at Q&D Construction helped replace more than 30 miles of joint seals and repaired cracks and spalls on the south runway, all in less than 10 days. Thanks to everyone who helped on this project to keep PDX running safely, and an additional thank you to the Port of Portland's Jeffrey Kerr for the fantastic photo!
