How We Celebrate Exceptional Service at PDX
At PDX, we believe in recognizing the moments that truly stand out – the ones that reflect our core values of being friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. That’s why, every quarter, we host the PDX People customer service awards.
Who can win?
Everyone who works at PDX is eligible. All it takes is consistently going above and beyond while embodying the PDX People values. Winners attend the event, and all nominees receive recognition.
How do I nominate someone?
If you witness great service – whether it’s a small act of kindness or an amazing customer experience – you can submit a nomination. The ability to nominate is open to all: coworkers, managers, and even travelers. If you see something special, say something!
How are winners selected?
The PDX working committee – made up of 30 volunteers from across airport industries – reviews the nominations and selects the winners each quarter.
What's the awards event like?
Winners and their managers are invited to a special celebration with the PDX working committee, and will enjoy a guest speaker, good food, and an awards ceremony.
Got someone in mind? Don’t wait, nominate now and help us celebrate the amazing people who make PDX shine! Want to learn more about PDX People recognition? Check out the recognition programs and read about past winners on the PDX People website.

What's New with PDX Next: Bye Bye Bypass
Tomorrow – Tuesday, Jan. 20 – the south pedestrian bypass will close, which means a more direct walk through Concourse B right away. The temporary bypasses were designed to keep everyone safe during construction, and removing them allows us to reopen more direct, permanent paths. The result is less backtracking, fewer long walks, and smoother exits overall. Watch for the bypass closure on the north side coming in early March! For more on the opening plans, check out this map to see the completed flow.
When the B/C bypass closes, the emergency egress stairs in that space will also close. Alternate stairs are near Gate C7 and the Concourse B egress stairs near Gate B3 will remain open. Gate C5 will be out of service during construction and all south side doors adjacent to make-up unit 1/2/3 will be closed.
Looking for more PDX Next information? We're keeping you in the know on what's new on the PDX People website. Have questions or suggestions about construction? Email hello@pdxnext.com or call the construction hotline at 503.460.4339.
PDX Gives Big at Blood Drive
We really moved the needle at last week’s Delta and United Airlines sponsored blood drive at PDX. Our goal of 53 units was smashed with 85 collected units – a new record for our location!
🩸 93 donors showed up ready to give
🩸 11 Power Red donations
For those ready to roll up their sleeves (or try it for the first time), we'll keep you posted on the next blood drive. You’ll walk away with gift cards, swag, and the best perk of all – knowing you helped save lives.
Be Knowledgeable:
TSA and REAL ID
As a reminder, starting Feb. 1, 2026, passengers traveling without a REAL ID or another accepted form of identification will be required to complete TSA’s ConfirmID alternative screening process and pay a $45 fee.
Here are some answers to the questions we've heard most often:
  • This policy does not apply to minors.
  • It does apply to gate passes.
  • ConfirmID validation is good for 10 days.
  • Accepted alternatives to a REAL ID are a U.S. passport, permanent resident card, or photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation.
How you can help: If a passenger does not have a credit card or digital payment method, they may need to use the cash-to-card machines to pay the ConfirmID fee. If passengers have questions, they can review the step-by-step process on TSA’s ConfirmID page and see additional answers on the ConfirmID FAQ page
Oregonian: 1,600 wallets, 800 phones and 1 special Labubu – Inside PDX's Lost and Found
On the mezzanine level of PDX, a small help desk window sits beside a locked door in a wood-paneled corridor. Those who ring the bell for service at Lost and Found may be able to retrieve their wallet or their water bottle, but they never see the trove of missing treasures just inside – in 2025, the team logged a stunning total of 21,500 items. While most lost items are donated after their time is up (electronics, for example, go to local nonprofit FreeGeek), higher-value unclaimed items are listed on GovDeals to help offset the costs of running the department.
Of course, the ultimate goal is to reunite the lost possessions with their owners – a mission this team takes very seriously. One recent traveler who was reunited with her prized Labubu said her experience renewed her sense of community support. In her words: "If I had to lose something at any airport, I would want it to be at PDX."
Two Oregon Artists Chosen to Create Murals at PDX
In collaboration with Regional Arts & Culture Council, Oregon artists Lettie Jane Rennekamp and Mark Small have been selected to create a mural design for the exit halls at PDX, anticipated to be installed in spring 2026. The vibrant 59-foot-long murals will celebrate local mural culture and promote pride of place and a sense of home.
As Port of Portland Art Program Manager Wendy Given said, "These fantastic and colorful mural designs represent Portland's resilience and potential, celebrate our thriving community spirit, and welcome everyone." The murals will be the first cycle of two new rotating art exhibition locations post-security at PDX that will be refreshed with new murals every two to three years.
PDX in Pictures
Brian Burk with the Port of Portland shared this photo and noted, "From performing a last-minute nose landing gear repair to maintaining security around the aircraft to loading baggage and cargo, it takes a big team to get a British Airways Boeing 787 in the air and on its way to London. Just one of the hundreds of flights PDX ground crews handle every day."
Thank you to everyone who works on the ground to get those planes in the air!
