MEET THE UNIVERSITY CHAPLAINCY
JULY 17, 2018
ncoming students from the Class of 2020 participating in the Illumination Ceremony
Hello Jumbos,
This week, we’re introducing the University Chaplaincy and spiritual life at Tufts. Not what you might expect, the University Chaplaincy is a spiritually-alive, radically inclusive, and justice-centered resource that supports everyone at Tufts, whether religious or nonreligious, through meditation, prayer, retreats, music, educational programs, service, and social justice efforts.
Come meet us on Matriculation Day at the Spiritual Life Resource Fair from 3 - 5 p.m. in Goddard, and check out our many communities and Orientation programs. You are welcome at them all, whether to practice your spirituality or just to learn.
As a reminder, we also have 2 Facebook Live sessions coming up with staff members in Academic Advising!
  • TONIGHT, Tuesday, July 17 at 7 p.m. EST - Academic Advising for Liberal Arts BA and BS Students
  • Next week: Tuesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. EST - Academic Advising for Engineering Students
We'll be hosting these Facebook Live sessions on the Tufts AS&E Division of Student Affairs Facebook page. Remember to send us your questions in advance!

What is the University Chaplaincy?

The Tufts University Chaplaincy is a dynamic hub supporting religious, spiritual, ethical, and cultural life for all members of the Tufts community. We:
Reporting to the University President, the University Chaplain leads the spiritual life team, which currently includes chaplains serving the following communities:
  • Africana
  • Buddhist
  • Catholic
  • Humanist
  • Jewish
  • Muslim
  • Protestant
Together, they serve the whole Tufts family as well as their particular communities. The team also includes program, administrative, and music staff, as well as student workers. The University Chaplain serves individuals and communities beyond those served by the other chaplains, and the office supports tradition-specific and interfaith organizations, programming, and services University-wide.
