Traveling internationally over the semester break?
Export control regulations are frequently changing and may apply to your planned international activities. Please contact the Office of Research Compliance and Integrity at least 30 days (if possible) prior to departure if you will be traveling internationally on behalf of GVSU and/or taking any GVSU equipment, such as a GVSU laptop. ORCI staff will review your planned activities and alert you of any potential export control concerns/restrictions. Note that the office will be closed while the university is closed over winter break (December 21 - January 1).

Recruitment Requests from External Researchers
If a non-GVSU researcher has asked you to disseminate a recruitment announcement to GVSU students, faculty, or staff for participation in human subjects research, please instruct the external researcher to complete the form located on the External Research Recruitment Request webpage. The ORCI will review the request to ensure GVSU is not engaged in the research and will reach out to the appropriate unit(s) to determine if the researcher has permission to move forward with recruitment at GVSU.

Research.gov and Login.gov now require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
As of October 27th, 2024, research.gov and login.gov now require MFA at log-in. Next time you log-in to research.gov using your NSF credentials, you will be prompted to set up verification, using your phone, an app, or a security key. Login.gov is offering two options, and you should choose "Security key." It will imply you need a physical USB key, but in fact, you can also set it up to authenticate via your phone. Because so many users are updating their accounts at the same time, there have been delays and glitches, so be patient.
