Information on UM-Dearborn’s actions regarding COVID-19
March 20, 2020
UM-Dearborn Alumni Family,

I could not let this week pass without providing you with information on UM-Dearborn’s actions regarding COVID-19. While conditions are changing rapidly, the University is committed to the health and safety of our entire community. Providing a Michigan degree in a safe and engaging environment is our top priority. The following changes on campus have been made with teaching and safety in mind:
  • All courses are being held remotely, allowing students to complete the semester off-campus. Spring and summer courses will be held remotely as well.
  • All UM-Dearborn in-person events that were scheduled through May 8, including the April commencement ceremony and all commencement-related activities, are cancelled or postponed until further notice.
  • Most faculty and staff are working remotely to promote social distancing.  All campus buildings are locked and have been sanitized while students and faculty are away.
UM-Dearborn is deeply committed to ensuring the health and safety of the campus community. Like many organizations in our state, UM-Dearborn has members of our community who have tested positive for COVID-19. Individuals have been self-isolating and are receiving treatment. We think about them, their families and all people around the world dealing with this pandemic.

Our students need your help

Many UM-Dearborn students are facing unexpected financial challenges during this time. In an effort to help, UM-Dearborn has established a Student Immediate Relief Fund to help students with unique and/or emergency financial needs. All gifts made to this fund will be used to support students during this time.

For current information about the impact of COVID-19 on the university, please refer to our website. As always, we will continue to be there for you at umdearborn.edu and our multiple social media channels.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at umdalumni@umich.edu

Stay healthy, stay informed, and stay strong. We will get through this.

Sincerely,
Casandra E. Ulbrich, Ph.D.
