Some county employees currently classified as "exempt" from overtime pay may soon become eligible, due to the U.S. Department of Labor's proposed rule change which would increase the salary threshold from $23,660 per year to $50,440 per year and establish a mechanism for automatically updating the amount annually. This rule has not yet been implemented - the U.S. Department of Labor is currently accepting comments on this proposal - but time is running out.  The National Association of Counties (NACo) has sent comments to the Department of Labor which you can read here, and sample comments for county officials to use, here.  The deadline to comment is this Friday, September 4th.  Click here to comment.  If these rule changes are implemented, impacted counties will need to plan to account for these changes in their budgets.  CTAS and TCSA will work to keep counties informed on any change that is finalized.

CTAS has launched a new website.  You can visit the new website by clicking here.
