TODAY 11-1 in SCE near the Bookstore: LCLC and LCSL volunteers will be busy publicizing all LCSL programs for Spring 2025. We’ll hand out flyers, candy, buttons, and we’ll spread good will for all programs. Can’t make it this week? We’re doing it all again next Monday and the Monday after that, same time, same place.
More recruiting for 200-level classes: LCLC peer tutors are visiting 104 classes in Spanish, French, German, and Italian to encourage students to continue to 200-level classes and to become peer tutors.
French and Italian Study abroad, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi Conversation hours, and much more: all these events are open to the UIC community and take place in 308 Grant Hall! If you are interested in organizing an end-of-semester party or other special event with your students, get in touch and we can reserve the Oasis for you. Find out what’s on the schedule here, and email us to plan your own language or culture event.
Planning for next semester? If you need help setting up Blackboard quizzes, creating a Google site, figuring out how to use Instagram or Facebook in your classes, etc., email us (lclc@uic.edu) to set up a consultation in person or on Zoom (click the button below).
We look forward to seeing you at our events and to finding out what your favorite word is! Have them add themselves to the language map too, including the language they study with you.

Italian Tutor Strahinja on Loanwords and Language Learning |
“A benefit to growing up in a region of the world that is very intermixed culturally and nationally is the inevitability of picking up words that are spoken by people from different cultures and different countries, by chance making it easier for the average person to later study other local languages. This has been my exact experience growing up in Belgrade, Serbia, the heart of the Balkan peninsula.”
