SGA Delights in the Ozarks
The Senior Golfers of America traveled to Ridgedale, Missouri, to experience a beautiful playground in this stunning area of our great country. A lively group of SGA participants opened the event with drinks and dinner on the Top of the Rock, the county's highest elevation at 1300 ft. It was an honor to welcome Hall of Fame members Bill Suehs and Walt Schroeder, both of whom traveled to the Ozarks from the great state of Texas. Participants enjoyed patriotic music from a traditional bagpiper and the firing of an historic cannon to celebrate the dramatic sunset.
Beautiful weather showed off the fall colors in the Ozark hills and mountains, for a wonderful adventure for all.  Participants were surprised each day with the stunning progress of the fall color on the courses, the surrounding mountains, and throughout the area as the hardwood forests shone with a mix of orange, red, yellow and purple from the maples, hickories, ash and oak trees.

A highlight of the event was the hole-in-one achieved by Janet Schroeder on #2 of the Ozarks National course. "I hit my drive, and my playing partners said, 'That's going to be close.' We climbed the hill and didn't see my ball, so I suggested, 'Look in the hole!' And there it was!" The group was very excited, and then learned that this was Janet's sixth ace!  Her husband, SGA Hall of Fame member Walt, has had six aces also, so now they are tied.  Who will be next?
The event closed out with awards in Top of the Rock's Curve Room, followed by dinner in the fine dining Osage Room.  Event Winners at gross were Byllie Ann Magnant Faykes & Ken Rabalais.  "This was an amazing trip," said Byllie Ann, who traveled to the Ozarks from Williamsburg, Virginia.  "I really enjoyed our time here,  plus, since we were just  married this spring,  this is Frank's and my seventh honeymoon!"
"This was my first visit in many years to the Ozarks," said Ken, who lives in Lafayette, Louisiana. "I love seeing the country with SGA, and I always have to thank Catherine and Cynthia for their good work in putting everything together."
Net winners were Tim Larson and Janie Risley. Runners-up were Darrell Measel and Janet Schroeder. Winning Best Ball Team was Darrell Measel, John Oppenheim,  and Bill Suehs with their blind draw of Janet Schroeder. Close to pin winners were John Oppenheim, Martha Richard, Janie Risley, and Jim Snyder. Kicking-it-Up-a-Notch award went to Byllie Ann & Frank Faykes. Congratulations, everyone!
Congratulations to Janet!!
Top of the Rock Lost Canyon and Nature Trail
SGA FoGs ventured to Top of the Rock Lost Canyon and Nature Trail on one of the days of the trip. Sandy Larson and Cynthia Swanson embarked on this dramatic trail by golf cart,  following the beautiful trail created to highlight stunning rock formations, waterfalls, and views of Table Rock Lake. The number of waterfalls in one area was almost unbelievable, as it seemed that one followed the other again and again. It was too early in the day for them to partake of the beverages at the Bat Bar in the Lost Canyon Cave, but others on the tour with them had no such reservations!

** Congratulations to Sue Hall & Mary Lou McElligott for their correct guesses for the Halloween costume (Lindsey Vonn)! Gift certificates are coming your way.**
