Associate professor Genelle Belmas was interviewed by the Associated Press about the demise of the last joint operating agreement in the United States, the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Sun. This agreement permitted an exemption from antitrust enforcement to certain newspapers combining their business functions while keeping their editorial functions separate and competitive (codified in the Newspaper Preservation Act of 1970). There have been 28 such agreements since 1933, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently invalidated the Las Vegas agreement, the last of its kind.
Professor of the Practice Angie Hendershot will share her research and teaching experiences with the KU community as part of a first-generation faculty, staff, and student panel on Mar. 31 at 1 p.m. Hendershot will be joined by Alejandra Hernandez-Castro, Associate Director of TRIO SES & STEM, and KU student Jorge Aragon, as keynote speakers for Belonging @ KU: First Generation Perspectives in Higher Education.
