CONSTRUCTION CORNER Mother Nature has been in full force this month! Someone forgot to send her our Clinic construction schedule! Rain has delayed progress for much of the month of April. The storm water and sanitary sewer lines are partially installed, and the building footprint is ready for footings. As soon as the weather clears, we will be able to finish these important sections of piping and begin working on the building foundation. Please continue to use extreme caution driving and walking near the construction area. Speeding increases the risk of accidents for drivers and construction workers.

NEW RIVER STAGE PRESENTS
TREASURE ISLAND
Swab the deck and prepare to sail the high seas as New River Stage presents “Treasure Island” by Bryony Lavery. This reimagined production of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s classic tale is a story of the cleverness of children. While often pegged as a story for boys, this retelling balances the gender scale while staying true to the original narrative. Jim Hawkins becomes Jimima, a young girl fighting both the rules of society and bloodthirsty pirates. Climb aboard the Hispaniola for a heart-pounding voyage filled with tales of swashbuckling men and women o’ fortune, a malicious mutiny led by infamous Long John Silver and a deadly quest for fabled buried treasure.
Dates: April 28 and May 5 at 7pm, April 29 and May 6 at 3pm
Duration: 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission
Cost: $12 Adults, $10 Students and Seniors
Tickets available at the door or online at newriverstage.org.
Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.
Reserve transportation by calling 552-2419.

Tall Oaks Hall, Village Center JUNK DNA AND FRIENDS:
A NEO-VAUDEVILLE VARIETY SHOW JUNK DNA is a neo-Vaudeville Variety Show featuring music and dance, a bevy of jazz-tap Contemporary Modern dance, Irish dance, romantic waltzes, a big measure of satire, and good old schtick. It’s a treasure trove of songs and dances from the past and from now. Notable performers include Carol Burch-Brown, Patrick Turner, Ann Kilkelly, Erin Lawson, Rachel Rugh, Victoria Dunlap and Mardy Baker. The fun starts at 7pm on Wednesday, May 16, in Tall Oaks. Doors will open at 6:30pm. Tickets: $15 and $10 for elders and students. Tickets will be available for purchase at the front desk of the Village Center starting at 6pm. A bit of food for thought: According to the dictionary, "Junk DNA" is genomic DNA that does not encode proteins, and whose function is not well understood. Scientists now think that the Junk DNA in our bodies is not ‘junk’ but includes a record of life in bits and pieces. It’s still mysterious, like our show!
Reserve transportation by calling 552-2419.
