Max Unger Turns Frowns Upside Down
Max Unger (he/him) with Dollar Car Rental was nominated by Sean, a PDX traveler.
"I showed up to get my rental in a bad mood and was a little rude to Max, who was helping me. Max took it professionally and without an ounce of attitude. A little while after leaving, I came back so I could apologize to him. He was very professional and kind the whole time. He even sold me an upgrade! Max is a keeper."

Concourse E Detour: For evening travelers arriving at Concourse E gates, there will be a temporary detour starting tonight (Monday, April 7) through Friday, May 2, on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. There may be work on Saturdays if there are delays due to weather on weeknights. As of now, Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, April 19, are scheduled for work.
Need a refresh on the impacts? Here’s what you should know. We know detours and temporary routes aren’t always fun, but these short-term changes are helping us build something amazing. Thanks for helping keep PDX running!
Lost and Found Closure: On Tuesday, April 8, from 8 a.m. to noon, Lost and Found will be closed to customers while maintenance replaces their front window.
Deplaning Restroom Closures: Now through Thursday, April 17, deplaning restrooms T1TJ34 and T1TJ44 are closed while crews install ventilation in and around the area.
Bag Tunnel Safety: Bag tunnel is a busy place, and with new routes and construction changes, there's a significant increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic. With more people and vehicles in the area, it's important to keep safety top of mind. Review the top safety tips and how to report incidents.

KOIN: PDX Helps Families Navigate Autism Awareness with Practice Runs
Did you know that about 1 in 36 children in the U.S. are identified with autism? Last Wednesday, we marked World Autism Awareness Day at PDX with an event aimed at helping families navigate the challenges of travel and learn about the resources available at our airport.
Jessica Arzate, whose daughter Yari is on the autism spectrum, said preparing for the airport environment is crucial as Yari often feels overstimulated and ungrounded in busy, noisy spaces. "It’s a change in routine, a lot of sensory impacts," Tobi Rates, executive director of the Autism Society of Oregon, shared. "I don’t think people are always aware of that. [At this event], they get the full experience to see what it’s like." Want more? Check out the coverage on KPTV.

Celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility
Did you know that nearly three million people in the United States identify as gender non-binary, trans, or gender queer? Last Monday, March 31, was International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements and victories of transgender people, while raising awareness and uplifting the struggles for transgender people around the world.
The Advocates for Trans Equality shares five ways to be a good ally:
- There is no one way to be a perfect ally.
- You don't have to understand someone's identity to respect it.
- You can't always tell if someone is transgender by just looking at them.
- There is no "one right way" to be transgender.
- Continue to educate yourself.
