At PDX, great service isn’t just part of the job, it’s kind of our thing. From lost keys to long lines, emotional days to unexpected detours, our customer service stars step in with kindness, quick thinking, and a whole lot of heart. They’re friendly, respectful, knowledgeable, and know how to turn a tough moment into a bright one.
To recognize actions that truly stand out as extraordinary and support our core values, we host the PDX People customer service awards each quarter. Below are the employees we recognized from April through June 2025.

Thoughtful PDX Design, Real People Impact
In 2022, PDX earned the age-friendly business award – a first for airports in the U.S. – and a lot of thoughtful design work went into earning that title. In this AARP podcast, the Port of Portland's Irene Ng, who is a founding member of the PDX Access Committee, shares how changes like clearer signs, smarter layouts, and even onsite rental cars make a big difference for seniors, families, and travelers with disabilities. As Irene noted, "What we find is that, when we solve for one group of users, almost everybody benefits."

Applications Now Open for PDX Pop-Up Program
Every day, thousands of travelers visit PDX, passing by local shops that give the airport its unmistakably Portland feel. If you know someone who has a shop that sparks joy, products that travel well, and a story worth sharing, help us spread the word: two pop-up retail spaces are opening soon for a one-year run at PDX. It’s a chance for businesses to grow their reach, connect with new faces, and show the world what local looks like. Applications are open through Tuesday, Sept. 30, with an information session on Thursday, Aug. 21.
