Palm Desert -- Wonderful, As Always
The Senior Golfers have been visiting the California desert since 1985, playing golf and enjoying the weather and scenery over and over in the Golden State. The group was delighted to return to the beautiful Palm Springs area.
The weather was absolutely fantastic for the event, and participants enjoyed playing the fabulous couses and celebrating Valentine's Day together. Event winners were Tom Pickard, Janet Schroeder, Walt Schroeder, and Michele Wallace. Congratulations to all!

Meanwhile, Back in South Carolina

SGA Director Cynthia Swanson, author of these compelling newsletters,  could not attend the Desert Holiday event as she was undergoing a 21-day series of radiation treatments for basal cells on the bridge of the nose. Inspired by SGA champion John Oppenheim, Cynthia had a very successful experience and both John and she will be available for consultation with any SGA members who are considering the therapy.
Meanwhile, national news centered on Cynthia's hometown, Myrtle Beach. The Chinese balloon was shot down very near her beachfront home and locals were quite engaged with the moment of fame for the area. Cynthia's neighbor Anita Stickle took the video below, and local photographer George DeCamp took these pix of the shootdown.
It is unusual to find very much trash on Cynthia's beach area other than cigarette refuse, plastic water bottle caps, and similar items. Everyone in the community was interested in searching for artifacts, and neighbor  Larry White found a two-inch white paint fleck. Inspired by this, on Cynthia's beach walk that very day she found the below hard rubber scrap -- what do you think?
