We are almost halfway through Fall semester with a well-deserved fall break just around the corner!  OUR has several deadlines approaching. Scholarship and Research on Capitol Hill applications are now open, in addition Spring 2026 UROP applications being due on October 31 - now is the time to begin your application processes!  

Congratulation to our 20 Early Exploration Scholar Recipients. They will have the opportunity to explore connecting with prospective faculty mentors surrounding research while they are early on in their academic journey. Students included in this year’s award are:

Utah Conference for Undergraduate Research (UCUR)

This year's Utah Conference for Undergraduate Research (UCUR) is being held at Weber State University on February 27, 2026.  They are now accepting abstract submissions through November 7.

Parent Fund is sustained by parents and supports student-centered programs and initiatives. The Parent Fund plays an integral role in the University of Utah’s ability to provide students with exceptional opportunities inside and outside the classroom.

Francis Family Endowment Fund as established by John A. Francis in memory of his wife, Irene F. Francis, and to acknowledge the work of his son, John G. Francis, professor of political science at the University of Utah. The Francis Endowment Fund recognizes outstanding undergraduate researchers in the arts, social sciences, and the humanities.

Every summer, the Office of Undergraduate Research Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) hires nationally competitive undergraduate students to work intensively over a 10-week summer research experience with U of U faculty.  

University of Utah tenure-line and career-line faculty are encouraged to apply to serve as mentors for SPUR 2026 (May 18-July 31,2026).  You can view a SPUR Mentor Info Session here.
