Happy Monday! Even as spring break fades into the past, and as we grapple with the “spring ahead” from this weekend, I hope that you feel a bit more restored—and ready for the second half of our semester! When the weather forecast looks like it does this week, it’s easy to start thinking of the warmer days to come…but at the same time we shouldn’t lose sight of what’s happening now!
We’re already into Lent, looking ahead to the Big East Tournament and St. Patrick’s Day, and in our second full week celebrating Women’s History Month—check out this month’s programming on campus, such as the monthlong exhibit on Women in Sports! This is also a great time to recognize one of the amazing women in sports, Amy Rosenfeld, who oversees the Olympics and Paralympics for NBC Sports—and a year ago received the 2024 Colin Jose Media Award, in recognition of her work to celebrate and support soccer in the U.S. More relevant here: she’s working with our Center for Sports Media Executive Director B.J. Schecter on a 1-credit class for Fall 2025 on Live Sports Production. Read the story below and find out more about this opportunity—which will include a trip to the NBC Sports headquarters, and the possibility of an internship covering the Winter Olympics!
With that bit of Pirate Pride, I invite you to read on and learn more about what is happening in and around CHDCM, and what our amazing people have been up to! As always, keep your good news and event notes coming, and I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful return to classes!

WSOU Alumni Return to Campus for Speed Networking Event
On Feb. 25, WSOU held an alumni speed networking event on campus, where current station staff were able to connect with WSOU alumni from many different professions. WSOU's alumni network is full of proud former DJs, Sportscasters, and Newscasters who always look to give back to the station in any way they can. They are a driving force in helping members find work outside of school, both in the media industry and outside of it. WSOU is incredibly grateful for all that our alumni do for us, and we were pleased to have them back on campus networking with our current members!
