EvergreenHealth Awarded for Outstanding Hospital Safety & Quality Care
EvergreenHealth announced today its latest recognitions from independent safety and quality organizations, The Leapfrog Group and Healthgrades, which place the Kirkland-based health system among the area's highest-ranked hospitals for patient care.
These latest accolades include an "A" rating for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a leading independent watchdog organization on hospital quality and safety, as well as new recognition from Healthgrades that distinguishes EvergreenHealth as the no. 1 hospital in the state for stroke care, and as the highest-ranked hospital in the Seattle area for pulmonary and critical care. The Healthgrades rankings place EvergreenHealth among the top two hospitals in the state for pulmonary and critical care.
Healthgrades is the nation's leading consumer resource for information about physicians and hospitals, and its annual rankings help demonstrate the impact that clinical performance may have on health outcomes.
"Throughout our 50-year history, EvergreenHealth physicians, staff, and volunteers have continually held each other to the highest standards for delivering exceptional patient safety, care, and service to our patients and families," said EvergreenHealth CEO Jeff Tomlin, MD. "These latest recognitions from The Leapfrog Group and Healthgrades are encouraging reminders of our shared commitment to serve our community with high-quality, safe, and compassionate care. They demonstrate the excellence possible when we work together toward our purpose to enrich the health and well-being of every life we touch."

Access to Abortions ShrinksA few weeks have passed since Roe vs. Wade was overturned, and access is shrinking, as shown in red on the Kaiser Family Foundation figure above. The limitations on access will grow with time.

WA State WIC
The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is asking for your help encouraging pregnant women and parents of children under age 5 to sign up for the WIC Nutrition Program. Currently, WIC serves only about 50% of the families it could be helping. Referrals are one of the main ways people hear about WIC.
Most pregnant people and young children on Apple Health Medical are eligible for WIC. Unfortunately, many are unaware of WIC and think if they are on WIC, someone else may not get benefits or think they don’t qualify. Would you help by sharing information about the WIC program?
WIC Information rack cards are available in 16 languages. They are free and easy to order. If you do not wish to order through the website, the website ordering instructions and fillable fields order form is linked here.
Thank you for all that you do for the families of Washington State. If you have any questions, please contact WICOutreach@doh.wa.gov

The UW offers a free, state-wide physician-to-physician* consultation line that connects you to a UW faculty psychiatrist for clinical advice regarding adult patients with mental health and/or substance use disorders. We field many calls involving co-morbidities, polypharmacy, schizophrenia, and substance use, along with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression.
Specialized consults are available for pediatric, pregnant, and postpartum patients as well. We hope a clinical consultation with us not only helps you in the care of your patients but also in the care of yourself by giving you a chance to talk through options and feel supported in your decisions and treatment. This program is only available to Washington state clinicians.*
The Psychiatry Consultation Line (PCL) is staffed by psychiatrists 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be reached by calling 877-WA-PSYCH (877-927-7924).
You may also email pclwa@uw.edu to request a scheduled consultation. Please include your name, preferred day/time, and a brief description of your question. To assist in your planning, the average consult takes about 15 minutes, including a brief intake with our navigator and time speaking with our psychiatrist.
Visit our website (pcl.psychiatry.uw.edu) for more information about the program or email pclwa@uw.edu with questions.
Sincerely,
Ryan Kimmel, MD
