Hello everyone! I’m Honey Stukes, a senior majoring in Biological Sciences with minors in Sustainability and Theology. On campus I spent the past three years at Pasquerilla West Hall (Roll Weasels!), but now I live at the Undergraduate Community at Fischer Graduate Residences (UCF). I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York but currently reside in New Jersey.
Here at Notre Dame, I wear many hats. I am a God and the Good Life Dialogue Leader, GreeNDot Senior Fellow, Equestrian Club Member, and Secretary for both the Pre-Veterinary Club and Black Cultural Arts Council (BCAC). Within Galvin, I am the leader of the Seminar Committee. You might have seen my flyer advertising the Upperclassman Panel in the beginning of the month. Keep a look out for more events we have planned! After I graduate, I hope to attend veterinary school. My applications were sent off about a month ago, and I am eagerly awaiting responses from schools. Fingers crossed!
Throughout my years at Notre Dame, Galvin played a crucial role in shaping me both in and out of the classroom. The intimidating factor of coming to Notre Dame, especially during my freshman year being the COVID year, was eased by the wonderful professors and peers I encountered daily. Some of my closest friendships to date were forged in Galvin classrooms. The mentors I’ve connected with during my time here have paved the way for me to secure internships and shadowing experiences with top-tier veterinarians in my state. They also provided the solid foundation I needed to perform undergraduate research here on campus and abroad. If it weren’t for Galvin, I might not have persisted in my STEM journey, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the opportunities they’ve bestowed upon me.
I’m a firm believer in paying it forward, and I’m always ready to lend a helping hand in any way I can. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, and if you see me around campus, don’t be shy – come say hi!

Most gap year opportunities will be available in the Spring semester and even into the Summer-- when you, the candidate, are available to actually start work.
YOU ARE NOT BEHIND!
Fellowships, service opportunities, and many post-baccalaureate internships will have earlier deadlines, some this Fall and others in January-March.
Start your research now but don't panic if you don't find anything yet; most pre-med/pre-health students secure their opportunities in Spring and Summer.
