PDX People Honored at Customer Service Awards
Behind every smooth trip through PDX are people who make the impossible look easy. They’re the calm in the chaos, the problem-solvers, and the everyday heroes turning challenges into bright moments. From rescuing a lost teddy bear to reuniting travelers with forgotten bags (and even cars!), PDX People keep proving that small acts can make a big difference.
To recognize actions that truly stand out as extraordinary and support our core values, we host the PDX People customer service awards each quarter. Read about the employees we recognized from July through September 2025.
Want to learn more about PDX People recognition? Check out the recognition programs . You can also nominate an employee who embodies the PDX People values and serves as a shining example of great customer service for next quarter – submit a nomination now.

What's New with PDX Next: North Escalator Closure and Loud Work
North Escalators: From midnight on Monday, Nov. 3 to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, the north escalators will be closed. The elevators will be operational.
Loud Work in Ticket Hall and Baggage Claim: On Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 7 – 10 a.m., expect periodic elevated noise levels in the ticket lobby as crews work on the FID structure.
Now through Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6 a.m. - 4 p.m., loud noise and vibrations from concrete cutting and chipping will be present in the south ticket hall and south baggage claim. Noise mitigations will be used as much as possible and crews will monitor noise levels.

Be Respectful: PDX Employee Smoking Area
There’s a smoking area airside, just east of Gate C4. The space is marked with a painted outline and there are two receptacles avaiable.
Being respectful is a PDX People core value, and that includes your actions toward travelers, other airport workers and even shared spaces. With that in mind, a few reminders: Please use the designated bins for cigarette butts and trash, no eating in the area, and no chairs, buckets, and coolers. If the cigarette bin is full, call 503.460.4683 for service. Need a comfier place to take a break (with no smoking)? Head to the PDX Community Room instead!

New Feature Ensures You Won’t Forget Where You Parked at PDX
This just in: We recently launched a new feature on FlyPDX.com – a tool to help travelers remember where they parked and get step-by-step directions back to their vehicle. For now, it’s a "soft launch" for the long and short-term garages, with a goal to expand to the economy lots soon. Travelers will soon spot signage near each elevator bank with QR codes to scan that will prefill most of the user’s info. From there, they’ll simply hit save or send themselves an email with directions. Upon return, they can click the "Get Directions" button and we’ll provide a path back to their vehicle from anywhere in PDX.

Spread the Word: PDX 2045 Open House
Do you know folks who'd like to learn about and provide feedback on the master plan update for PDX? Invite them to our PDX 2045 open house on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Vancouver Community Library. The open house is a drop-in opportunity where attendees can learn about the project, talk with the team, and provide input that will help shape how our airport grows. You can also attend a Zoom Q&A session today, Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. And if you can’t make these dates – don’t worry! Between now and Friday, April 25, you can participate in an online open house and community survey through Friday, Nov. 14.
If someone you know has thoughts on what the Port should consider as we accommodate expected growth over the next 20 years, please pass along the PDX 2045 website so they can learn more.

National Disability Employment Awarness Month
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and we teamed up with Relay Resources to help spread the word. Check out their video on Instagram to see how Relay and PDX make our airport more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
This year’s NDEAM theme is "Celebrating Value and Talent," and we couldn’t agree more. To mark the occasion, Relay Resources and the Port of Portland hosted a seminar with guest speaker Dr. Jennifer Luebke, Relay’s CEO. She shared practical ideas for recruiting, hiring, and supporting disabled employees and showed how inclusion in the workplace benefits all of us.
