Andy Hickman Believes Great Customer Service is Ageless
Andy Hickman (he/him) was nominated by fellow Southwest Airlines employee, Erika:
"Andy spent a lot of time with a Southwest customer who was delayed due to the weather here in Portland. He spoke at length with her while she waited for her friends to pick her up. The traveler was 89 years old, and Andy's efforts helped her be more comfortable and feel taken care of in a tough situation."

What's New with PDX Next: Multi-Use Path, TriMet Platform Access and Ticket Lobby
Multi-Use Path: The future multi-use path between the TriMet MAX platform and the PDX Travel Center is NOW OPEN! Enjoy, and walk, bike, jog or rollerblade safely.
TriMet Platform and Bike Racks: Last week, access to the TriMet platform from the south ticket lobby was blocked off to facilitate construction in that area. Bike racks are now near the southernmost revolving door, and the bike repair station will be relocated nearby. Pedestrian access to and from the TriMet platform will be routed to the elevators and escalators in the south bag claim and south ticket lobby areas. A reminder that the new emergency egress door in the east window wall of the south ticket lobby is for use in emergencies only and leads outside to the upper roadway.
Ticket Lobby: Crews will modify the current temporary wall in the south ticket lobby and add a security door to allow early access to portions of the baggage handling system.

How Four Northwest Tribes Helped Build the New PDX
When you peer up at the main terminal’s swooping wooden curves and lattice-framed skylights, some of the wood you see is from PDX’s four tribal partners: the Yakama Nation, the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Skokomish Indian Tribe, and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. We asked our tribal partners to tell us the story of the wood they supplied to PDX, the forests it came from, and how they manage their sovereign lands with a blend of traditional knowledge and modern science.

TriMet Red Line Disruption: June 16 - 21
We're approaching a milestone for TriMet’s newest trains before they enter regular service: testing on the MAX Red Line, which will happen this month over six consecutive nights.
To provide dedicated time for testing, the Red Line will experience nightly disruptions from Sunday, June 16, through Friday, June 21, between the Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center and PDX. The disruption will only affect trips between the airport and Gateway between the hours of 7:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., and shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes to get people around the disruption.

Mark Your Calendar for June Events
Did you know there's a calendar of events on the PDX People website? It's the best way to keep track of upcoming learning opportunities and fun events open to all airport employees.
Pride Month: Celebrate on Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. with a PDX People procession through the airport, starting at Elephant's Deli in the ticket lobby. Then, go on a Pride Month Q+A Quest and collect Pride swag throughout PDX!
Celebrate PDX Concessions: With our street pricing commitment and bounty of local products, you can find all your favorite snacks and sundries at PDX. Even better, you’ll enjoy an employee discount, which can mean up to 20% off. And, if the sunshine has you feeling ready for some summer fun, watch for parades happening in the terminal over the next two months, featuring loveable llamas, the Unipiper, live music, and samples/deals from the concessions!

PDX in Pictures
Our Parking Control Representatives recently rolled out brand new e-ticket machines for issuing citations on the roadways and parking lots. This is a major improvement over our former handwritten citations and makes PCR operations much more efficient. If you see Tina Byrd, Matt Craft, John McIntire, Luanne Stanley (pictured above) or any of the other PCRs, ask about the machines and how they work!
